Captains Retreat is a self contained, luxury one bedroom cottage in the heart of Lymington. Free unlimited parking a few minutes walk away.The high street is 5 mins walk , where you will find shops, restaurants, cafes and a museum. There is a very popular market on Saturdays down the entire high street. At the bottom of the high street is the stunning Lymington quay on the cobbles, a popular place for a coffee or grab a local boat trip. Nearby there are beautiful walks and a marina. Nestled in the courtyard of our 1850’s townhouse, Captain’s Retreat is a lovely private little cottage. It is primarily set up for couples but the superking bed is a “zip and link” so it can be easily made into 2 singles. Therefore it is also suitable for two people who do not wish to share a bed! Soak and Sleep toppers and luxury hotel quality bedding. If travelling with a baby. A travel cot is available ( please bring bedding for the cot. There is a walk in shower and towels will be left for you. There will be milk, coffee and tea for your arrival. There will also be tea towels, hand soap, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry pods, toilet roll and cleaning supplies. Everything is provided so you can just relax and enjoy your stay. Crockery, cutlery, glass wear, cooking utensils and cooking equipment is provided. There is also a Smeg dishwasher and fridge, washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster.

Beautiful stay at The Captain’s retreat. Just what we were looking for, a brilliant location to stay to explore the area. Helen was so welcoming, providing lots of recommendations and always on hand for any questions. Really recommend for central location, able to walk easily in to Lymington but also a short drive to the New Forest and also to the beaches! The house had really pretty decor and nice modern touches. So happy with our stay - even our dog was truly welcomed. Thank you Helen
This is a cosy place to stay with a really fabulous bed - we were super tired on arrival and the bed was bliss. Lots of thoughtful touches and responsive friendly host. Enjoyed our time there and whilst it is a busy road the little cottage is set back and lovely and private. It’s also so great to walk to everything - Waitrose so close for breakfast pastries !!
Helen’s place is brilliantly located, town within a 5 minute walk. There are supermarkets, restaurants and pubs all very close by. The home is cosy, kitchen is an open plan space, and the bedroom is comfy and spacious . Felt homely. Helen’s communication was great throughout and lots of helpful tips in welcome book. Would recommend
We enjoyed a comfortable warm stay at Captains retreat, perfect for the 2 of us and our dog. Good quality kitchen appliances, with all you needed for 2 people. Welcome doggy treats were a nice, friendly touch. Easy walk into lymington and the local pubs and restaurants and with waitrose just 2 mins walk away, Captains retreat couldn't have been more central. Helen always responded swiftly to messages. We would recommend Captains retreat for a stay exploring the new forest and surrounding area.
Everything about the stay exceeded expectation. Location, presentation and quality of the furnishings were great. Helen was very helpful and a great host.

We are located just off the top of the high street with its many , restaurants, pubs and shops, a few minutes walk. On Saturday’s the popular market runs through the high street. Waitrose is a two minute walk and so is the large grass cricket ground if you need to walk the dog. There are also some beautiful local walks, not always obvious to visitors. I would hate you to miss them if walking is your thing. I will happily direct you
Helen’s favourite walk
Search for Chequers Inn on Woodside Lane which is 5 minutes in the car, the south side of the high street. Drive past the Chequers and either park a few hundred yards and walk across the road to the lane which leads to the nature reserve/salt marsh ( leading to the sea wall) or drive to the end of Woodside Lane and there is a car park. If you walk to the Seawall and turn right you can walk to Key haven and Hurst Castle beyond. It is beautiful, wild and quiet. You will often see the wild ponies
Free unlimited parking within a few minutes walk from the property. I will send details on booking. Once parked there is no need to use your car if you are planning on staying in Lymington. Shops, pubs, restaurants, the quay is all within easy walking distance
