Had a wonderful stay at Kemp Court. The cottage is clean, cosy and comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It has been recently converted into the current accommodation and the owners have done a great job. The central heating is noisy and did disturb us in the night but we got used to it. Vehicular access is very tight! My Audi Q3 made it down to the parking area with about an inch to spare at both sides (with the wing mirrors turned in). I didn't fancy attempting it a second time so I parked on the street on the second day and used the parking permit (provided in the cottage). Unfortunately the host (Sykes) was totally unresponsive throughout our whole stay despite us needing help on 2 occasions. (We're home now and they still haven't responded to our messages! Very disappointing.) But we wouldn't let that stop us returning - we'd definitely stay at Kemp Court again.

Kemps Yard Retreat is a great place to stay in the centre of Thirsk. The accommodation has recently been renovated to a very high standard and is comfortable, cosy, very well maintained and equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable break. It's also very conveniently situated with all the amenities of Thirsk quickly accessible from the doorstep - the James Herriot museum is just over the road. Be warned that the passageway through to the parking space is extremely narrow - I successfully negotiated it 4 times but wasn't so lucky on the 5th! However there is a visitor parking disc for parking on the street and if you can't find a space there is a large public car park behind the house with 24 hour parking for £5 so there are plenty of other options. Overall a great experience at Kemps Yard.

Really lovely place to stay and perfectly located for a few days in North Yorkshire. Cottage was immaculate, just as in the photos. Comfortable and cosy - very quiet and private. Lots of good places to eat within a few minutes walk.
