The Barracks is an amazing house. It's very close to several key beaches in Little Compton, and has a ton of privacy, and even includes an outdoor shower, which was a pleasant surprise to us. Leah is a wonderful host, and made the whole experience a breeze- she even included some very thoughtful tips on where to go if you didn't know Little Compton well. The house itself is stunning. Leah and her family have done an incredible job creating a space that captures the essence of Little Compton, and makes you feel like you're immersed in the vibe of the town. The house was very clean, and for those of you who are interested in the history of the area, this house provides a rare opportunity to actually stay in a historic landmark. This is a great building for families, and as long as you follow the house rules, I would say this is a great place for kids, as well as adults. I will 100% be renting this home again, if it's available and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Little Compton.

The Barracks was a very comfortable and fun setting to spend a few relaxing days while in Little Compton. The house is gracious and clean with lovely light and attention to detail. It really lends itself well to enjoying the beach, long runs or bike rides and ready access to nature. The John C. Whitehead Preserve is a gem. We also got to enjoy the annual Art Tour (some of the pieces from a previous year are resident in the Barracks). We would highly recommend the Barracks for a beach getaway. Leah's prompt responses made everything super easy and comfortable.

When I first mention Little Compton, RI to friends and family, their initial reaction is almost always the same: Where?!? By way of explanation, I searched AirBnB for a quiet place where my family and I could sit on a beach, ride bikes and relax without feeling we had to be anywhere on a schedule. With Little Compton in general and The Barracks in particular, we succeeded beyond our expectations: Little Compton is a beautiful town and the Barracks is a fabulous home -- clean, spacious, well-equipped and endlessly interesting. The Barracks is owned by a family of creatives and their love for this home shows in every corner. Spend a few days and you'll feel the same way too. Complaints: none. Quibbles: only a minor one: the house could benefit from an extra fan or two, but again, this is a very minor quibble and likely stems from the fact that we arrived on the heels of a particularly hot and humid stretch. There is no A/C, but Little Compton's location seems to assure a pretty temperate, comfortable climate. My family and I have travelled enough to know there are places we'd skip and places worth a return trip. Little Compton and the Barracks are without doubt in the latter category. Highest recommendation!
