Orca is a stylish two bedroom house boat sitting on the outer mooring of a small private marina, a tranquil world seconds from the bustle of West London. The floor to ceiling windows of the modern upper deck living room face an uninhabited island nature reserve that serves as a scenic backdrop to boat life. Short riverside walks lead to Kew Bridge station (with direct trains to Waterloo), Kew Gardens, historic pubs, great restaurants and an art centre and independent cinema. Enjoy end to end river views from the long top deck with a large teak dining table and loungers. The private south facing side deck is ideal for breakfast or a coffee as you watch the local herons, ducks, cormorants and occassional seal in the river below. Sit very still and you might be joined by a kingfisher from the uninhabited island opposite that sometimes perches on the rail of the deck. Dappled sunlight from the river floods into contemporary upper deck living and dining room through floor to ceiling windows down to lower deck kitchen and living room through the glass floor. On the lower deck you'll also find two double bedrooms, an office (with slightly restricted head space) and a bathroom with an enamel bath and shower. Beyond the rising of the tide twice a day and the occasional rock in the wind one has to make very few concessions to boat life: the boat is fully plumbed to the shore, there is full central heating via the eco-friendly air source heat pump. The brass portholes and original features below are evidence of the 100 year history of the original barge and provide an interesting contrast with the more contemporary upper deck. Orca is moored in a small private marina of historic Dutch barges that has a secluded garden. The boat comes with a dedicated parking space within the small private marina car park.
