Beautifully restored in early 2024, the property offers outdoor seating areas at both the front of the house and in the paved back garden and is the ideal base to explore the spectacular Lake District all year round. Comfortably sleeping 4 guests, Friars Cottage is a late 19th century traditional cottage containing a host of characterful features including original fireplace, roll top bath and original Lakeland artworks throughout by Cumbria Wildlife Trust artist-in-residence, Julia Garner. Beautifully furnished in a contemporary, yet rustic style, the cottage provides the perfect place to sit back and admire the views over a morning coffee or early evening drink – or relax and have a snooze by the fire after an adventurous day exploring the fells and lakes or browsing Keswick’s many independent stores or bustling town market. There is also excellent WiFi throughout the cottage. Ground Floor Sitting / dining area The spacious open plan sitting / dining room includes comfortable leather sofa and chairs, electric fire, Smart TV and DVD plus an eclectic mix of Lake District guidebooks plus board games for your use whilst you are our guests at the cottage. There is an ample dining area, complete with a central circular table with seating for 4 and a stunning chandelier. Kitchen The spacious and extremely well-equipped kitchen is complete with electric hob and oven, fridge, microwave and stylish DAB Bluetooth radio. The Utility room is beyond the kitchen with a separate freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher, as well as an area by the back door, perfect for hanging coats, storing muddy boots and generally providing extra space. Downstairs WC and sink This can be accessed off the Utility room. Porch area by front door There is a second area for hanging coats in the porch as you enter the front door of the cottage. First Floor Bedroom 1 has a King sized bed with top-of-the-range super comfy mattress topper and can also be configured into twin beds. This room has stunning views of Latrigg from the window. There is plenty of wardrobe space, drawers and a Smart TV. Bedroom 2 is a double bedroom furnished in a complementary style, with a super comfortable double bed and a delux mattress to ensure a fabulous night's sleep. The room provides plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Following recent renovations we have also added black-out blinds and black-out curtains to both bedrooms. Luxury organic cotton bedlinen and towels for all guests will be provided as well as lovely soft duvets and pillows. Main Bathroom The brand new main bathroom comprises an elegant roll top bath for a relaxing soak, powerful overhead shower, WC and sink. The cottage has instant hot water and a super-efficient heating system. Outside Space Friars Cottage has outdoor seating areas for 2 at the front of the cottage with views of the mighty Skiddaw plus a larger paved seating area for 4 people to the rear of the cottage, accessed via the back door – ensuring you can chase that Lake District sun throughout the day whether over a leisurely breakfast or relaxing evening as the sun goes down. Parking. Friars Cottage has the benefit of being located on one of Keswick’s wider residential streets with free on street parking available all year round, moments from the cottage. The Skiddaw Street car park also offers electric charging points if required.
