Stayed at The Oread 1 night. It was easy to find, sitting on top of a hill (especially easy at night), very walkable to Mass St, large rooms, comfortable beds. Check-in was quick and easy. We enjoyed the on-site restaurant/bar and roof-top deck. We will stay again!
Not a great stay. Checked in to find what was to be a king room was actually two double beds. Not what my husband and I were looking for in a private get away. We are told no king rooms available. The hall smelled like sewage. Check in at around 4:45pm. Our room was 60 degrees. We turned up the heat to 70 because it was freezing. Upon turning on the heat, burnt black paper like substance flew out and landed on one of the old saggy looking double beds. Returned back to the room at 10pm to find the room still at 60 degrees. Heater blew out nothing but cold air. It’s freezing outside and snowing at this time so we call down to the desk. That guy tells us he’s sorry but there’s nothing he can do. Sold out can’t move us. I explain that it’s just not acceptable. It’s freezing. Again he says they can’t do anything. I then tell him they’re going to have to find us another place to stay then and suddenly a king room opens up. Expected us to be on ok in a room with no heat in February in KS
The hotel canceled our reservation, even though we had paid in full. We had to scramble to find somewhere else to stay. They couldn’t give us a reason for the cancellation. I believe it was because they felt they could charge someone else more for the room.
