This truly was a one of a kind of experience! The rustic interior of the train car included many interesting original features especially the queen bedroom door! Floor plan was easy to navigate making the best use of the space. We enjoyed a campfire with the wood provided and grilled steaks on the well kept grill located on the deck. Window views of Skaneatles Lake were just lovely, especially the sunrises with geese flying by. Steep but sturdy stairs across the street lead to a dock area that is quite large with a variety of chairs/lounges. It’s amazing how clear the lake water is. The surrounding area was very quiet, thus making long walks with our dog very enjoyable. Many thanks to Ian who did a fantastic job communicating with us.

What a fun place! bigger than we thought... we were in 4, 2 adults and 2 kids... more than enough space. Fun experience!

Novel accommodations in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The kitchen was fully stocked with amenities and plenty of towels were supplied. Having access to a private dock and kayaks were our favorite parts of our stay. The views from the deck were fantastic and we enjoyed as much time outside as possible. We also appreciated that firewood was provided for the fire pit. Quarters for the two non primary bedrooms were tight, as was the secondary bathroom, but this is to be expected with a rail car. If you stay here and are driving, bring an extra fan (a large floor fan and table top fan were provided). Only one window can be opened for fresh air and the air can feel a little stagnant. Other than that, we enjoyed the time we spent there.

Ian is a superb host. He stopped by and made sure all was well. The space is larger than appears in photos and the location and views are perfect. Great dock space and the kayaks were a bonus for exploring the inlets. Can’t imagine a better Labor Day holiday!
