Upper Mountain Cottage nestles in a hectare of mature garden and fynbos. Its natural materials such as sundried earth walls, timber from onsite, and green roof respond to the nearby mountains. Natural swimmable ponds provide an oasis for birds and wildlife. The living and kitchen spaces open onto stoeps with a choice of sunshine or shade, garden or sea views. Guests have shared access to the swimmable reservoir ponds and extensive gardens . Upper mountain cottage is the upper ground level wing of mountain house. It is surrounded by gardens with a wide, sunset sea view from the living room. There is a bedroom with a kingsize bed. An additional single sofa type bed can be pre-arranged in the living area. A TV screen (monitor and HDMI) are provided but you will need to bring your own box/laptop. Equipment for small children such as stair gates and a cot can also be arranged ahead on request. We may be able to accommodate small and sociable pets at a small fee, but only with prior consultation as there are other small dogs and children on the property.

Really enjoyed our stay at Elri and Rowan’s cottage. While Gordon’s Bay is a quieter town, my partner and I had fun exploring the local restaurants and attractions when we weren’t staying in to enjoy the cottage. Elri was pretty-emptive in sending a mail explaining how to reach the premises and we received the key to our accommodation as soon as we arrived. We also brought our dog along with us and got to enjoy watching him play with Elri’s dogs. A great stay, hoping to stay again soon.
Ein Traumort in herrlicher Panorama Lage und ein wunderbares Haus, das so geschmackvoll eingerichtet ist. Leider stören im weitläufigen Garten das Geräusch der nahegelegenen Strassen etwas, aber im Innern des Hauses und vor allem im Schlafzimmer ist es völlig still. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und bei unseren Fragen umgehend unterstützt. Vielen Dank! Wir kommen gerne wieder.
Nice place, nice hosts, great view!
We loved staying at Rowan's place! Elri and Martin were great hosts and were very helpful regarding any need we had. I would highly recommend the location to anyone as it is beautiful with a breathtaking view over Gordon's Bay. At night the stars are very clear and provided me with hours of peaceful ruminations. Thank you Rowan, Elri and Martin for making our stay wonderful.

Flying Mountain Farm is located amongst small holdings at the Eastern edge of the Hottentot’s Holland mountain bowl. It is set on the lower slopes of Sir Lowry’s Pass Mountain and adjoins the edge of the Kogelberg Biome, the World Heritage Site of the Cape Floral Region.
Upper mountain cottage overlooks False Bay ( just a 6 minute drive to Gordons Bay beaches and the beautiful coastal Clarence drive). It is just 1Km from the N2 ( access to Somerset West, the airport and Cape Town) . It is also in close and easy reach to great hiking trials, vineyards, restaurants and shops.
