The Chairmakers cottage has been lovingly restored with 2 bedrooms and 2 private en suites making it perfect for couples or friends. Nestled in the popular village of Tideswell, in the heart of the Peak District. The cottage is full of natural charm and unique character, making it the perfect base to explore the beautiful Peak District countryside. Dog Friendly, we charge an additional £30 for a dog for the duration of your stay and can accept up to 1 dog. The Chairmaker's Cottage has been beautifully renovated to create a warm and homely cottage, with gorgeous wooden handmade objects by the owner dotted around the property, giving it that unique style. Located in a popular and thriving village with several pubs, 2 restaurants, a small supermarket and various small, independent shops you can certainly get all the essentials when you stay. Plus plenty of walks from the door. You are welcomed through the front door into the lounge, a warm and cosy space finished in deep greens, orange and reds making it a great space to settle down in the evenings. A log burner is in the centre of the room with an eye catching Samsung Frame TV situated above. A two seater sofa, in plush fabric and 2 further arm chairs are perfectly positioned to enjoy the fire. There is a place to hang coats as you enter and a basket of throws to enjoy when the nights are cooler, everything has been thought about to make your safe perfect and a real home from home feeling. Tucked in the corner of the room is the dining table, which can seat 4, there is a built in bench seat on one side and 2 handmade chairs on the other, an ideal place to come together to enjoy meals without encroaching into the living space. A rather quirky step made from a tree trunk leads you up into the kitchen. A light and airy room with a bespoke kitchen with striking dull green units against the crisp white walls works wonderfully, again there are handmade features drawing the eye with a wooden breakfast bar, and shelving all beautifully hand carved. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, having a dishwasher, electric glide and slide oven, electric 4 ring induction hob, Quooker boiling tap, under counter washer/dryer, Delonghi bean to cup coffee maker you shouldn't struggle with anything when you are staying here. There is a door to a small outside courtyard which then also leads up to a higher tiered seating area. The stairs to the first floor are also located in the corner of the room. Bedroom one is finished in soft pinks and the largest of the two rooms, the super king fixed double bed is positioned in front of wooden panelling which houses a couple of lamps, you have bedside tables and a chest of drawers. There is no wardrobe in the room but the owner has cleverly designed hanging space on one of the walls. A sliding door leads into the private but compact en suite. Whilst small it is not lacking in amenities, there is a toilet, small basin and walk in shower with fixed overhead shower head and a handy hand held attachment too. A feature stone wall finishes off this perfect en suite. Bedroom 2 is slightly smaller and has a fixed king size bed with storage underneath. Again there is handy hanging space on the green panelled wall and bedside tables. The compact private en suite is hidden neatly behind the sliding door with small basin, toilet and shower, with fixed overhead shower head and handy hand held attachment. There is a window which lets in plenty of natural light. There is a hairdryer in each bedroom. The outdoor space is to the rear of the property. From the back door in the kitchen it brings you to a small courtyard with bistro style table and chairs that can seat 2 people, there is a small shed for muddy boots, dog cleaning equipment (mud daddy) the BBQ and logs. This is a great private area, so ideal to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee if you are an early riser before anyone else. There is also an outside tap with hose and sensor lighting. Cobbled steps lead you up to the main higher tiered seating and dining space. Garden furniture is available with seating for 4 and a small table, there is a storage box containing the cushions for the furniture. The general waste and recycling bins are stored here too. When the back gate is shut this can create a secure area for dogs, even though we do ask for them not to be left unattended. The back gate takes you to a back lane which does have access at all times by the neighbouring properties, so we do ask not to bring your car round this way. The lane takes you back to the front of the cottage.
We had a lovely stay. Our dog Ivy had the best time and we greatly appreciated all of the extras to make our furry family member feel settled. The property is done to such a high standard. We admired many decorative pieces and have taken inspiration for our own homes. The check in and check out was so easy. We will definitely return when staying at the Peaks. Thank you for making it such a pleasurable and welcoming experience.
Absolutely beautiful cottage, cosy with superb finishing touches. A marvel of craftsmanship! We loved our break there.
Wonderful little cottage, very cosy and welcoming, with a lot of attention to detail. It exceeded our expectations and was absolutely perfect for our family of 3. Great location for exploring Peak District!
The cottage is absolutely immaculate; everything is of the highest quality throughout. A perfect base to visit the Peak District in a lovely little village
A large, thriving, village set in the limestone hills near Buxton and Bakewell, with many old picturesque buildings and the remarkable St John the Baptist church, known as 'The Cathedral of the Peak' is an impressive sight and well worth a visit. Once known for the importance of the markets they held and being a huge part of the quarrying, lead mining, cotton and velvet mills that were in the area.
The location of The Chairmakers Cottage is just on the edge of the village which offers an immense choice of walks or cycle routes from your doorstep. You can enjoy easy access to the picturesque dales of Litton, Millers, Cressbrook, Tideswell and Raven, ambling through woodlands and the dramatic open countryside of the Peak District. The village itself has an array of shops with lovely cafes, gift shops, a few pubs, and 2 restaurants.
The Monsal trail, is within reach via a good walk and the market town of Bakewell is only six miles away - you can even cycle down the trail taking in some of the most scenic views from your saddle, why not hire a bike from Hassop cafe. The must see family home of the Cavendish's at Chatsworth is only a 15 minute drive, where you can easily spend a day exploring the house and gardens and why not finish your trip at their farm shop in Pilsley to be able to take some local produce home with you.
