This cottage was so charming and exactly like the pictures! Went with a group of 6 and a dog, Lija was incredibly accommodating and the property was the perfect getaway for the Canada day long weekend! Spent the hot summer days on the dock and the evenings enjoying the fireplace. A huge plus was being able to bring our dog who loved the water more than anything! Would recommend to anyone looking for a cottage away from the city like us! Already planning our trip back!

We stayed for a week in September, had a really nice stay at Lija’s cottage. It was very quiet while we were there, Balsam Lake is a beautiful lake. The property was very nice, tucked away deep from the road which is nice; especially with a dog. Cottages on both sides but there are plenty of trees to provide privacy, great dock. I really enjoyed the quiet road that the cottage is on, great for morning runs or nice walks with the dog, also very close to Balsam Lake provincial park where there are some really nice hiking trails. The cottage itself is rustic but very cozy, we had a rainy cold night during our stay and with a fire lit and the chandelier on dim it was a very nice setting for a night with friends. The large windows on both sides of the cottage make for great views of the trees. The interior is well decorated with no “word art” that seems to be present in most cottages these days so that was refreshing to see. Lija was very responsive and easy to communicate with and was kind enough to leave a nice welcoming gift for us. All in all a great spot for a friend or family getaway.

My family and I stayed at this beautiful lakefront property for a week and had an amazing time. You really couldn’t ask for a better lake, so clean and beautiful. We travelled with 3 kids from ages 5-13 and all had a blast! The host left a nice bottle of white wine for our arrival which was a very thoughtful touch. So much to do in a short drive, movie theatre, go karts and cute free museum in Fenelon Falls that is perfect for children with free play and activities. Lija and Arthur were very quick to respond to any questions. I highly recommend this property. Thanks so much Lija!

What a great family cottage with a lovely sense of charm and character. We had a very nice week, canoeing, biking, reading, swimming, and of course hanging out on the dock. We had the opportunity to use the outside fire area and the inside fireplace which is a show piece unto itself. Lija was an exceptional hostess who was easy to communicate with and she left us a lovely local strawberry and rhubarb pie upon our arrival - it was delicious! Thanks again!

We really enjoyed the large treed property and tranquil surroundings. The themed cottage had a rustic charm to it. As boaters we love Balsam lake and the cottage waterfront. The old channel was a very unique feature that added to the ambiance of the property! Lija was a great host who took pride in her heritage of Scandinav. Mark, Wendy and family July 11-18 2020
