The Old English Barn offers wonderful coastal walks from the doorstep, and is a great stepping stone to discovering the Broads National Park. These man-made Broads, 125 miles of lock-free waterways, wind their way through the stunning Norfolk countryside and pretty towns and villages and are home to over quarter of the rarest plants and animals in the UK.
Mundesley, set ​in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, only a mile and a half away is a pretty Victorian seaside village where families can enjoy a traditional holiday. For family fun in Mundesley, there is crazy golf, a skate park, play areas, a tennis court and a surf school. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy exhibitions, festivals and concerts in the village halls and parks. This charming village has a parade of independent shops, including a butcher, green grocer, fishmonger, florist, a craft and an art shop and clothes outlet. There are also pubs (try The Ship and sit in its lovely garden, overlooking the sea) and cafes and the streets are lined with pretty flint buildings and cottages. Mundesley is also home three churches as well as a Maritime Museum, one of the smallest museums in England! A nine-hole golf course sits on the hillside of the River Mun valley and offers wonderful views over the coast and countryside.
Another short hop in the car and you will find the lovely beaches of Overstrand, Cromer - while you are there, be sure to pick up a Cromer crab or take in one of the shows in the Pavillion Theatre on the iconic pier - West and East Runton, Sheringham and Sea Palling, many which have been awarded Blue flags.
There are many fabulous places around and about to eat. Try the The Ingham Swan in Ingham, The Recruiting Sergeant in Coltishall and The Gunton Arms at Thorpe Market, with its eclectic art collection, is a foodies must. If you want to relax at home, the Oriental Garden Chinese takeaway in Bacton and the Labone Indian takeaway in North Walsham will deliver to the barn.
There is plenty to see and do in this area - visit the nearby National Trust properties of Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall which throw you back in time with their periodic features, fabulous gardens and wooded walks.
