The Smiddy is a great place to stay. right in the center of Kirkwall but in a lovely quiet spot. Parking was good for two average cars. facilities in the property were lovely. Beds were all comfortable and clean. Bathrooms all well done and clean. There is a huge tv in the main lounge and small tv's in the bedrooms and kitchen. New boiling water tap took a bit of getting used to. When the hot water failed Kevin was very quick to respond and get us up and running again, I don't think the water issue has happened before. Would recommend the Smiddy as a great place to stay when exploring Orkney.

Thank you so much Kevin. We had a great time, just loved Orkney and its people. The house was perfect for us, very comfortable, near shops and cathedral and harbour. This was a perfect Kirkwall stay. Very close to everything and with its own parking. A great base for a March trip and very very comfortable. And spotless! A lovely old building conversion ☺️. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Amazing place to stay within walking distance to everything in Kirkwall centre. Place felt very homely and nicely laid out. A colleague and I booked it while working on the island and enjoyed staying very much. With a nice, spacey lounge and large telly we found it a lot better to relax in the evenings than a hotel. Large bedrooms and bathrooms would suit a larger party also.
