A great stay, remote, quiet and relaxing.. great to have access to wifi, as the phone signal was poor, but that allowed us to completely switch off. Exactly what we wanted. Great walks close-by for the dog, and a lovely little picnic bench down the road we used in the afternoons to just chill playing board games.. if you want a complete switch off highly recommended
Totally beautiful cottage and location. Only real let down was if the cleaner actually cleaned the house just that little bit more than top dusted. Parts of the house haven’t been cleaned for a long time. The condition of the kitchen floor was just awful, nothing 5 minutes of mopping didn’t fix but for the cost this should of been done for us before we arrived. Outside toilet just needed 5 minutes of cleaning as well to remove the spiders and there webs. Just a little bit more effort required here. If only the cleaners put some effort in this would be a 5 star rating. Otherwise, house is lovely, great walks from the back and front door. Don’t worry about being right on the road. There is little to no traffic even at peak times. We stayed over Easter. Note, although useable the washing machine leaks on to the floor and the dryer needs a new belt or bearings. Sensor dry doesn’t work use the 1 hour option!
Low Bowkerstead Cottage fell well below the standard we expected for cleanliness. We chose to find alternative accommodation. In fairness, when we contacted them to explain that we were unhappy they were understanding and prepared to refund in full.
Fantastic property in a brilliant location. Our family (2 adults, 2 kids & dog) stayed here for the start of our summer holidays. The cottage is ideally situated for those wanting to do local walks or head to Grizedale, Hawkshead. There is a pub about 15min walk (Eagles Head) which serves good food. No local shops so make sure you stock up before arriving. We will definitely rebook later in the year.
