Superb Airbnb experience. Gaëlle was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout—really the ideal host—and the whole complex has been so carefully and well thought out and designed. Bungalows are quite private with great front decks facing the water. The kitchen is well stocked for self-catering or for having food delivered. The isolated location requires a ride to go most anywhere beyond the two walkable blue holes, but that is probably a plus for most. I highly recommend a stay here.

Absolutely amazing! From booking to check-out Gaelle was so wonderful to deal with. This was our first trip with our 6 month old daughter and I had a lot of questions about the lodge and Santo. Gaelle happily answered all my questions really quickly. She also provided baby items free of charge. Cot, high chair, baby toys. The hut itself was wonderful. It has the perfect balance of rustic beach hut charm but with all the modern amenity’s. Shower was instantly hot and had plenty of hot water, bed comfy and linen clean. Gaelle also had thought of lots of little things hosts forget. The mini fridge was a great addition to the room as was the book case for storage and two benches to pop you luggage on. The bathroom had towels, beach towels, bug spray, plug-in mozzie repellent mozzie coils with a lighter to light them. It was also decorated really well with traditional Vanuatuan art and beautiful flowers. We loved our stay and will be back.

Beautiful, natural setting, with different islands just in front of you. Lots of activities (kayaking, snorkeling on a private island, or quad bike) all very close by. Perfect communication and they helped us organise everything. Pls make sure to bring your own food if you don‘t want to do delivery service. Huge kitchen, kept extremly clean and well equipped. I can highly recommend Matevulu Lodge.

I had high expectations based on the stellar reviews and they were even exceeded. The minute I got dropped off in paradise I was hooked on the property, the team, the amenities and the ambience. Gaëlle and her team pay attention to detail: from deep-cleaning the water kettle with vinegar every day (never ever seen that happen at 5-star world class hotels) to providing power outlet adapters, so visitors from everywhere can charge their devices, to mosquito repellent to reusable water bottles to- you get the idea. Gaëlle thought this through and takes care of problems you're never gonna know you may have and all that's left to do is: relax, enjoy the picture-perfect view, nap in the hammock or go explore the island. It felt more like a homestay rather than an Airbnb experience. While I enjoyed my privacy and serenity, it just takes three steps to the incredibly clean and well-equipped common area where you'll most likely always run into other guests and there's a strong sense of community in the air. If that's not your thing, don't fret - it's just as easy being all by yourself or yourselves. The bungalow looked even better in person: the veranda is huge and I spent hours sitting there staring at the ocean. The bathroom is huge and the bedroom features a bed with a medium-firm mattress that should cater to everyone, I for one slept very well. The internet worked well considering Matevulu Lodge is in a very secluded location, but don't expect to stream or download big files (which really shouldn't be on your agenda whilst you're here anyway). Breakfast was delivered in a straw basket adorned with flowers from the backyard every morning. One morning Gaëlle had prepared crêpes and even provided maple syrup! Gaëlle took all the guests to experience kava at a local hangout, which just rounded off a week of bliss and tranquility. Highly recommended and definitely coming back if I return to Espiritu Santo.
