Damn you, limited characters! I could write a NYT essay about perfect our stay was. The pink beauty perched perfectly overlooking the ocean, this place felt alive. It practically had a heartbeat. Pictures are accurate, but do not do justice. The kitchen is bigger than it seems…that gorgeous long table is even more striking and accommodating in person. There is a very unique style and flow to this house – Open showers (behind closed doors!), and the artwork throughout caused a few giggles from the younger ones traveling with us. The house is incredibly well-appointed. I can’t think of a single thing that we said we needed and didn’t have. From the kitchen tools to the dishes and cookware, we had everything we needed and then some. Because people come and go, shelf-stable things get left behind like oils, spices, medicines, etc. so I encourage you to check all over the house before you go grocery shopping. Loved it and we’ll definitely be returning to Casa Elvira.

We just returned from a family vacation at Casa Elvira and had an absolutely fantastic time! We picked it based on the reviews, photos, cost, etc. and it definitely lived up to our expectations. It was beautiful, super private, with a nice spacious floor plan that easily accommodated our 7 guests. Dafne is an artist and the house is full of her beautiful work which added to the whole feel of the place. We basically had the beach to ourselves. Dinner at Salitre and our beach day at Rincón were also very memorable. All in all we would highly recommend a stay at Casa Elvira!

Good points: the house is large, has a beautiful view, very large yard. The lawn is kept meticulously, with beautiful palm trees and hammocks. Nice. The location is not perfect, but it is very close to a couple of good restaurants and a short ride to swimming beaches. Weaknesses: The beach is very rocky—it is impossible to swim on it and even to walk on it for more than 200 yards. The kitchen is terrible: there is no dishwasher, no oven, and a toaster-oven that doesn't toast. There is not even a functional can opener. There is a poor selection of plates and too few mugs, cups, or glasses. Bathrooms are shabby and unpleasant. Should be modernized along with the kitchen. There is no acoustic privacy: you can hear people talking, even quietly, in your room. We still had a very good time, but I would strongly urge Dafne to renovate the kitchen and the bathroom, and to make sure that the kitchen is better equipped. Dafne was very pleasant and helpful and lives literally across the road.
