Decorah · 整套客房 · 1室2床1.0卫 · 可住5人 · Scandinavian Cottage with Hot Tub & Hiking Trails
Welcome to our timber-frame Scandinavian Cottage just north of Decorah. The guest cottage is located on an historic orchard property in the gorgeous Locust School area, adjacent to the main home. The property has acres of hiking trails winding through pine forests, fresh water springs, gardens and sunsets second to none. Sit out back on your private porch, visit the friendly animals, pick apples in the orchard, or enjoy an evening in the hot tub located between the cottage and main home. There are mowed trails around the property and through the woods to the creek. Please feel free to hike and explore as you like. Help yourself to blackcaps, raspberries and mulberries in season. Please do not pick any apples out of season. When in season it’s fine for you to pick a few from plentiful trees for you to enjoy during your stay. A few of the varieties are very old and may only produce several apples. Please leave these untouched. There are limestone ruins on the property including an original home and cooling house. Please do not approach or touch them. Please do not go onto the second floor of the barn. Please do not open any barn doors or gates. Please do not enter any other outbuildings.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Such a great building itself, and cozy, with nice touches! Beautiful location, and we were lucky enough to have near-perfect weather so that we could keep the windows open and night and take in the nature sounds. We spent an afternoon walking the property and said "hi" to some of the animals. Graciously, Lindsay left us farm-fresh eggs and cold-press coffee to savor. We also enjoyed using the hot tub and sipping some wine on the back porch at night. It's a quick drive into Decorah for places we love, like La Rana and Water Street Deli. A shout out, too, to Mike Rogers with Bear Creek Anglers if you're looking for a friendly, knowledgeable fly fishing guide!
The cabin and land are absolutely beautiful! It was a perfect and peaceful place to get away for a girls weekend. The cabin was very clean and comfy. Had everything we could need and more! Lindsey was very friendly and responsive and even left us some fresh brewed iced coffee, wild flowers from their garden and apples from their tree. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind-this is it! Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
Harwood Hills consists of the main house, the guest house (which we call the Stuga) and several other out buildings. You will have full and private access to the guest house and shared access to the property grounds and the hot tub. Please do not enter any other out buildings or the main house without Andrew or me accompanying you. We may be out and about on the property tending to chores and yard work but will do our best to give you your own uninterrupted space. Please feel free to join us for meeting the animals or gathering eggs etc. You are always welcome, just pop out and join us as you’d like.
The historic Locust School is very near as well as the Highlandville Store and the Wildberry Winery. What’s New Antiques is also a fun spot for a visit. Decorah is 10 minutes south and full of adventure. Harmony has Estelle’s for dinner and Spring Grove has a lovely new Distillery.
We are always happy to help you find your next favorite area resource!
The guest house has one designated parking spot in front of the small garage with the basketball hoop. We recommend walking toward the main house and taking the gentle slope grassy entrance to the guest house. The other route can be muddy/slippery weather dependent.
