Close to the popular town of Ruffec there are many places to visit including Abbaye Notre-Dame de Nanteuil or the Chateau at Verteuill sur Charente with it's charming bars, restaurants and markets. The roads are ideal for cycling and there are many popular cycling routes within easy access. There are some beautiful areas for rambling with stunning scenery nearby.
Its a 45 minute drive on the N10 to the walled town of Angouleme. This is the main town in the area with lots of restaurants and bars.
The grande prairie lake at saint-yrieix sur charente is a fantastic day out with its man made beach and inflatable rides on the lake. Nautilus is the indoor swimmimg pool with slides and wave machines and 4 pools on site.
Cognac is less than an hours drive and is well worth the visit for the sites and tours of the Distilleries The popular Theme park Futuroscope is an hours drive also.
The historic port of La Rochelle is 75 miles away with it's museum, markets, urban beaches and a floating harbour. The beautiful beach at Royan is just down the coast from La Rochelle.
The sophisticated city of Bordeaux is a 2 hour drive on the N10 . There is lots to see and do in Bordeaux with it's culture, shopping and nightlife.
