Vintage charm and modern comfort with a lovely parkside location in Rapid City's historic West Boulevard neighborhood. Serene, clean, light-filled space lets you recharge after a day of adventure and work remotely with lightning-fast wifi. Right at your doorstep, the park offers gardens, tennis, a playground, and ice-skating. Close to downtown, restaurants and amenities, and Rushmore Road, gateway to the Black Hills. Please note: We are now *only* accepting guests with a proven track record of positive Airbnb reviews. If you are new to AirBnB and/or have zero reviews, please don’t book just yet—we’d love to have you in the future when you’ve got a couple of good reviews to your credit. Thanks! This sweet 1940 cottage has historic character and quality craftsmanship while being updated with modern comforts: high-speed internet (200 mpbs), new insulating windows, cozy heat and refreshing A/C. Your hosts have deep local roots and regularly stay here too, so you can expect a well-equipped kitchen, original artwork by local artists, a well-curated library, and firsthand attention to detail. We’re continuously updating and upgrading the home, and we've implemented a detailed cleaning protocol to ensure your stay is perfect start to finish. We embrace diversity and inclusion, and extend a warm welcome to guests of all kinds. The living room features a super comfy couch and a TV where you can log in to any of your streaming services, as well as a cabinet with classic board games and a small library. The sunny nook has a picture window overlooking the park, a great spot to watch the sunrise with morning coffee, read, people- and dog-watch, or settle in for conversation. Both bedrooms have comfy new Casper mattresses and soft all-cotton bed linens. We’re avid cooks, so the kitchen is outfitted with good cookware, utensils, and baking supplies, including a rice cooker, slow-cooker, and multiple coffee-making options. We use eco-friendly cleaning supplies. A full washer and dryer are available for your use, as are tennis and pickleball gear. The carport protects your vehicle from the sun and from South Dakota’s sometimes unpredictable weather. Two blocks away is access to the beautiful trail network of the Skyline Wilderness Area. We love dogs and dog people, and we welcome well-behaved, non-destructive canine guests, as long as they come with responsible humans who take care to leave no trace. The small backyard is fully fenced. We ask for a security deposit just to be safe. Your card will not be charged or even have a hold on those funds unless the rare instance arises where unusual damage (beyond normal wear-and-tear) or theft occurs. Let us know if you have any questions!
We stayed for 3 months and felt right at home. We loved the park across the street and West Boulevard nearby. Chelsey was very friendly, flexible and was there for any questions we had.
Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay in Rapid City. The location of it was absolutely perfect for me and my dog. Kitchen seemed well stocked. I feel like I had everything I needed and felt nice and safe! I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The host was responsive and I appreciated her allowing my dogs and I to stay in her home. The problems I have can’t be helped by the host, but I think others should know. The backyard is not well maintained and not accessible from inside the house. The neighbors dogs are quite intrusive and they do not seem to care. They put the dogs out at 5:40 am on a Saturday and allowed to bark for almost an hour. Even when I went out and told the dogs to quiet down, they did nothing. The park is nice, but many homeless people take up residence. The police were there on a couple of occasions. The park is about a block and a half long and it is the only thing between the house and the main road. Saturday evening is drag racing for 3+ hours on this road and very noisy. The house was as described, but I was traveling alone and did not feel comfortable on different occasions during my stay.
Cute house and nice walkable location. Easy to get to different locations in the Black Hills too. Would definitely stay again!
I've stayed at multiple houses through air bnb and I must say without a doubt this property was the most well equipped and clean and tidy place I've stayed at yet! it really felt like everything was thought out and had everything you needed to cook and feel right at home, would 100% recommend this property to anyone and I think it's a gem because of the location in rapid city as well
The West Boulevard Historic District is one of Rapid City's oldest and best-kept neighborhoods, centrally located and rich with historic architecture, including the long lush boulevard of grand old homes one block away. Across the street from the Sage House, Wilson Park adjoins an elementary school and is a safe, well-maintained, popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike—you’ll see picnics, dogs, birthday celebrations, even the occasional wedding. The park has tennis in the summer and ice-skating in the winter. The extensive Skyline Trails system, popular for walking, trail running, and mountain biking, winds through beautiful ponderosa-covered rocky hills a few blocks behind the house, a 10- to 15-minute walk away. Within a few blocks you'll find Safeway, Walgreens, Starbucks, Black Hills Bagels, Boyd's Spirits, the excellent Himalayan Kitchen, and many other eateries and amenities. Downtown Rapid City is a mile and a half away--a five-minute drive or a pleasant 30-minute walk. Nearby Monument Hospital is an easy five-minute drive as well.
You'll likely want a car to get around Rapid City and you'll need one if you want to explore the Black Hills, but there's plenty of walkability and bikeability right out the front door.
