We had a very nice time staying at the Halks nest! It is a good spot to pick if you are looking for some alone time away from the hustle and bustle. It’s in such a beautiful area and a quick drive to Carmel!

Sofanya is a superb host who loves to give her visitors a beautiful experience in the redwoods of Big Sur. I particularly liked the historic and spacious "Jasmine" residence for its historic charm -- it felt like time-travel to a very precious "old Big Sur" (nicely combined with updated robust central heating and hot shower & bath).

Truly a great base for the area. You are near Big Sur but also Carmel, Los Lobos, and Monterey and have lots of special places nearby, plus a unique forest getaway that most people visiting the area never even realize is there. The cabin is architecturally very cool. We were able to drive our Mazda AWD SUV to the cabin to drop off all our things rather than having to walk up the hill. We felt people exaggerated the difficulty of the walk up in other reviews, but it would be tough if you couldn't drop your stuff off first. Wifi is available at the entrance where you park, not in your cabin. We knew that so it didn't bother us one bit. All about expectations! One thing to note: If it is winter, you need to consider this glamping and imagine the indoor heater would be as much warmth as a campfire. Just be prepared for COLD if it's winter. Other than that, honestly, this place (especially in warmer months) is an absolute find. And as others have said, Sofanya is responsive and lovely!
