The staff at the location were helpful and very polite. We also enjoyed their cooking. The cottage is well maintained and is situated in a great location. Unfortunately description on Airbnb is not accurate to how they run the cottage. This lead to a very unpleasant experience of communicating with Dishani. Talking to her put me in such a bad mood and I even considered cancelling the trip. Thankfully she was not at the cottage so we were able to enjoy our holiday.

It is hard to describe the outstanding natural beauty that surrounds Benjamin Cottage, and its elegantly furnished interiors. The view from the balcony was stunning, and we were fortunate to see nature in all its moods - sunny mornings and stormy evenings. The sound of a nearly waterfall and the constant birdsong completed the experience. Chef Uditha gave of his best, while Dishani was super helpful and flexible in all things. A huge thumbs up and a recommendation to stay.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour, les chambres très agréables avec une vue magnifique, un cuisinier nous a préparé les petits déjeuner et repas pour nous, tout était excellent.

Отличный вид на долину и прекрасный ужин, который приготовил для нас местный повар. Действительно, сложная дорога, но если вы на машине - это не составит для вас труда. Мы были расстроены толщиной стен, слышно всё, что происходит на нижнем этаже. Но ночью было тихо, нас разбудила только белка, бегающая по крыше. Также нам показалось, что было не очень чисто, особенно в ванной комнате - много мертвых насекомых. Спасибо за внимание, которым нас окружили работники виллы - это важнее всего!

Come prepared for a unique experience! We booked this place for our family of five, two parents and our three teenage children. We intended this to be a quick overnight stay en route between Habarana and Tangalle. However that was our first mistake. Benjamin Cottage is in the middle of nowhere, a unique hillside location, quite a way off the beaten track so not the place for a quick stopover. Our second mistake was arriving after dusk. This place is remote by most standards and not an easy place to locate so please ensure you arrive by day and don’t necessarily follow Google Maps for the best directions. Having said all of that, if you want a quiet, tranquil stay at a lodge with a spectacular view and away from all the hustle and bustle then this could be for you. You will receive a warm welcome from Udith, the Chef and guest relations manager. The place is nicely decorated and laid out. We had a single large room for five of us with an en-suite and large balcony. Plenty of room. Important to note however that there is no airconditioning, just a large fan and although you are in a cooler location than the rest of the lower lying country it is still warm in the day and night. I could have done with some air con to keep cool as the standing fan did not reach all parts of the large room. The views of the valley in the morning are spectacular and there is a beautiful waterfall to visit which my boys did their best to scale. All in all a unique spot but make sure you stay more than one night to make the journey there worthwhile. We asked for dinner and breakfast to be prepared for us - I would recommend all meals are taken at the lodge as it’s remoteness means finding a local restaurant would be a big trip. The food was very tasty, authentic, with lovely service.
