This was a fun little stay. It’s on a former winery estate with the building converted into apartments for stays. The view of the lake was great, and the rural setting was also great for night sky viewing in the field on the property.

This was a bait & switch. I paid for a two bedroom apartment. What I got was a garage made into two separate units (only one was to be ours) on the property of an event center that is for sale in Hector. The building has rot all over, garage doors still evident on one side. I accidentally walked into one unit to find hundreds of dead bugs on the carpeting and canisters of bug killer. Our unit had a little black bugs in the sheets when we pulled back the blankets and flies that were in the process of dying. The flies we’re hitting us in the head and falling on the bedding. The owner refused to help or refund us. We called the harbor inn hotel in Watkins. They graciously gave us a room at a discounted rate. They have had repeat customers from this Airbnb. Airbnb was extremely apologetic, but could not give us a refund because the owner refused.

Overall, the actual apartment was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable and towels were fully stocked. There was no iron in the apartment which was advertised in the amenities of this listing. This was frustrating as we had a wedding to attend to and we’re planning on using the iron at the apartment. We would have brought our own steamer if we knew this would not be a available. We were told by the host that we would be receiving an iron that same day, but one never showed up. We had issues with the WiFi initially, but we ended up fixing the WiFi ourselves. Although the apartment itself was nice, it is located in what seems to be an abandoned wedding venue, a bit spooky. None of the doors to the venue are locked and the door to the apartment was easy to push open even after locking it. Not the safest experience for a guest. Overall, the cleanliness of the apartment and convenience to our destination was a plus despite the other issues noted.

The room was great, clean, newly updated and comfortable space. The building itself is a retired winery and a beautiful property. It’s a little quirky staying in such a large untouched building but overall would recommend.

Kristy was very responsive and helpful! We unfortunately weren’t able to have wifi or internet access despite flagging this at the beginning of our trip. Kristy did explain the steps she was taking to rectify however never really followed up with us or provided a solution. The room itself was just like the photos and as described, however it was located in an estate that is under construction and felt slightly abandoned which wasn’t really explained in the description and came as a surprise. Overall great room and communication but would have been helpful for additional details and to have access to wifi as were not from the US.
