自我介绍

I am a retired professional. Having retired after working hard for several years in my field, I like to take life easy and like traveling to various places (though my birth country Sri Lanka tops the list) . Now I like to divide my time between UK where I live, and Sri Lanka where I would like to spend the winter months. I don't much fancy flying, especially long haul fights, but have to endure that if I want to spend time in SL. In addition to English, I can converse very well in Tamil, my mother tongue and reasonably well in Sinhalese. I am a family person and also like spending time with my friends, especially those from my university days. We look out for each other and get together as much as possible. I am easy going and have a very good sense of humour and like to make my companions laugh with my jokes, often repeating jokes to their irritation. My opening statement often is "I may have told you this before, but in case I haven't ...". ! I like to consider myself as a kind hearted person and sympathetic towards those who are less fortunate. I love animals, but unfortunately, not able to have a pet because of personal circumstances. I cannot live without speaking to my grand child on FaceTime as he is "The Light of My Life" but doesn't live near me. I love phoning my family and friends, usually for quick chats, but sometimes lengthy ones. I like playing bridge with my friends, not taking it too seriously, usually combining it with socialising. I like meeting up with friends and family for parties and gatherings, mostly in family homes. I love small children some of whom call me their adopted grandma which makes me feel warm and proud. I do go to theatres and cinemas with friends, but not often. I would rather watch a film on TV in the comfort of my own home (and the recliner!). I love cooking, especially Sri Lankan dishes and of course enjoy eating what I've cooked. I think I am a reasonably good cook, but my family and friends may choose to differ in their opinion! I used to be an avid reader, but not that much now. I have an ongoing battle with de-cluttering my home which I have not won so far. Luckily, it is not the accommodation advertised for Air B&B. I have tried to make the Air B&B accommodation as attractive and as comfortable as possible and have gone to great lengths to make it so. I am happy to communicate with my guest if they wish so, but will not intrude on their privacy. My life's motto is 'Live and let Live'
