Osea Island is truly a magical place; quirky, welcoming and offering complete escapism. We stayed at the Laurels which offered 3 beds and 3 baths. The dining area is lovely and the cottage’s rustic yet comfortable styling made it feel truly cosy. The supply of wood for the fire and coals for the bbq were super touches that we’re appreciated. We left feeling unbelievably relaxed and planning our next return.

Osea Island itself is magnificent. It’s rural, away from it all and has a really good atmosphere. We felt like we had stepped back in time and had a quintessentially English seaside break with camp fires, bbq, bike riding and nature rambles. The accommodation is situation perfectly, with gorgeous views and my children loved exploring. It’s quiet and peaceful, everything you could hope for. Unfortunately Laurels was too shabby, not enough chic and really needs a lift. Sofas and carpets are stained, beds creaky, pillows lumpy. One of our windows didn’t close and one of the garden doors didn’t lock. Lots of cobwebs on the windows and door handles about the fall off etc. The biggest problem for us was the kitchen, it’s poorly stocked with no baking trays, no bbq utensils, no washing up sponge or brush, no food prep space and a very tiny and tired fridge. With no catering facilities on site and a less than adequate kitchen its a challenge. That said, a very helpful and friendly team on the island provide BBQs, firewood and fire pits, bottled water, dishwasher tablets and toilet roll / fresh white towels. Overall our stay was fantastic, just be prepared that you are paying the prices for the away from it all Island life as opposed to the accommodation quality.

It was glorious. The weather was terrific. Laurel Cottage was perfect. I loved the sunny breakfast room. And the baths with views. The kids loved their immense beds, abundance of pillows and furry throws. They, unusually, slept late every morning. We all fitted in the big bed for watching films in the evening. But the whole stay was made beyond perfect by the friendly and thoughtful attentions of Rose and Evan. They were absolutely brilliant hosts. So friendly and kind with the children - and the adults. The Easter egg hunt was just the right level of trickiness. They were there with ice, lemons and even a barbecue without us even noticing it had arrived. The fishing trip was a blast. WE LOVED IT.
