This typical Victorian chalet bungalow located amidst oak and pine forest on the Pontrey hill reflects best what the cottages of Kipling's Dull-housie can offer. The warmth of the winter sun, the whistling pine needles, the musical rain patters, the cold whiff of winds, the misty fog against windows, the sound of silence, we bet the place has covered all. Let you all be here for every season and every reason to be enthralled by the spectacular setting of the cottage. Your rejuvenating retreat. Built in 1935 Malhaar has overhanging eaves embellished with gingerbread trim and a huge hollow attic that makes rain patter musical. It is a double storey chalet. The entryway to the property is a wooden bridge by the retaining wall. The upper portion has two bedrooms with attached baths, a common baithak , a dining hallway and a fully equipped modern sunlit kitchen. >One of the bedrooms that faces the east is called sunrise. Watch the rising sun snuggling in the bed . >The other room is on the west. Just a stone's throw away in the pine jungle watch the sunset over Ranjeet Sagar lake. We'll have your coffee and cookie covered watching sunset. >The chalet is south facing making the front facade always sunny. >The victorian encaustic floor atop wood is a rarity that adds regality to the cottage. No wonder the road it's located on is called the Rajmahal. There is ample parking space just on the road and the car reaches the main entryway. However we advise you to reckon the road as it has a steep incline. We could arrange for a driver on request . >The whole chalet has ample heating appliances, fresh linen, ample books, fully stocked kitchen (with all amenities, confectioneries and groceries)*. >You have complete freedom to cook all you want. >The space is regularly cleaned and the linen changed each day. >There are beds for 4 and 2 additional floor mattresses could be provided on request > A Ministry of Tourism recognized BnB * stocked just once depending on number of persons booked for. Amount/quality depends on the rate booked at. * Amenities made available subject to the price booked at since dynamic Price model works.

The cottage was marvellous and the caretaker Sanjay took great care of us. His food was simply delicious, better than most restaurants around! The only thing was the location - there are a couple of houses around being constructed, including renovation on the lower floor. It was not noisy at all so not much of an inconvenience in terms of noise, only aesthetic view. The drive to the cottage was a bit tricky ( adventurous as well!)All in all, a great place to stay! Definitely recommended!!
This was a great stay. The house was so beautiful and cozy, that we didn't even feel like stepping out much. And a trail into pine forests starts right outside the house. The place is maintained really well and the bathroom was nice and clean. The kitchen had everything required for us to cook apart from the vegetables itself, which were available in nearby shops. Will definitely return for a longer stay.
The stay was at a walking distance from Subhash Chowk. You need to hike a steep road to come to the main road but then you get help with your luggage. The place was pretty and with quiet surroundings.
The location of this place is beautiful. It sits on a slope of hill giving beautiful view of valley and mountains ahead. A treat to the eyes in mornings once your are up. The rooms have beautiful wooden interiors giving an old English touch. They are extremely warm and cozy. The kitchen was fully equipped and well stocked with everything. We had no difficulty in making our breakfast. The service staff is extremely polite and helpful. As for the Host, Mr. Brigu was extremely helpful. He gave good amount of time, Co-ordinated local sight seeing, arranged a vehicle with a very good & safe driver for us. Winter is the best time when it snows here. I definitely recommend this place for everyone. However booking should be made early as it is in great demand making it a rare find; and with Mr. Brigu Sharda’s constant touch and attention, it will be super rare find.
Very nice home with very co operative care taker…specifically naresh.. All room are very clean .. Great location of nature from home.. Also market is very near… It’s memorable stay in Malhar home stay in Dalhousie.,. Thanx a lot Bhrigu..

The place is locate below the pontry mall road which today is called the court road. It is as close and as far from the bustle of the town. Either drive up or walk nearly 150 mts to be mainstream. There you'll have the DC Khanna stores , civil hospital, SDM's offfice. Other time you have your calm surreal setting.
The place is 1200 mts from the bus station. Taxis are easily available up till civil hospital from where the place is just 150 mts walking.
In case self driving we advise you to reckon the last 150mts road first as it is an incline.
