An authentic Louth experience in the centre of this beautiful town. My period cottage with double bedroom and courtyard garden is perfectly located. Directly opposite St James church, less than a minutes walk from the pubs and restaurants and the town centre shops. Situated in the most sought after part of The Conservation Area, 25 minutes from the coast with its stunning unspoilt beaches but in the heart of the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds. Louth is an award winning Georgian gem of a town. The Cottage is a quirky and interesting period building in the very heart of the vibrant market town of Louth, with a great independent Deli accross the road and a choice of good independent pubs and shops within minutes walk. The Cottage comprises of one double bedroom with views over onto the famous and imposing St James Church which boasts the tallest spire of any church in England and is annually home to a breeding pair of peregrine falcons. It was the meeting point for the Lincolnshire rising in 1536. The cottage is most ideally suited for couples wanting to experience this part of the world in genuine privacy and a pace that suits them. There is also a pretty courtyard garden with a table and chairs, perfect for morning coffee or a late night glass of wine. Decorated with pretty festoon lights you can relax and study the spire of St James over the cottages roof. The produce in this part of Lincolnshire is exceptional and is reflected in the care and passion displayed by the many independent food retailers and restaurants. Free parking is just around the corner, or if you are lucky there are two spaces just across the road outside the wonderful Delicatessen selling a wide range of amazing food and drinks. Finally, the cottage is a great place to set off and explore The Wolds on foot by the many local set walks, many of which set off from St James church or by car to the coast or other pretty towns and villages nearby.

Lovely little cottage in the heart of Louth. Had everything I needed and was clean and comfortable. Perfect for a short break and to explore the area. Will definitely be back!
Location was good but a lot of traffic noise the windows of the lounge and bedroom are a foot away from a busy road. Lovely area and central great view of the church. Unfortunately the cottage itself was rather run down, carpets were very grubby, couch was dirty, very little provided in the kitchen a couple of small saucepans and a frying pan so old and dirty you would certainly not wish to use it a toaster yellow with dirt and rust you would have to buy a new one should you want any toast. The floorboards upstairs had large gaps a couple of centre meters between a them through which cold air rushed through. The stairs were so small and steep that you had to put your feet sideways and hold onto stairs over to climb, it was rather difficult. There are plenty of places to eat so perfectly ok if you just wanted somewhere to rest you head. We booked 4 nights but only stayed two as we didn’t find it a particularly pleasant stay. Also take some teabags or coffee as no basics were provided.
Top tip for those bringing a dog: for a quick first/last 'convenience' dog walk, turn right out of the cottage to get to the parking area just after the bridge and walk through the old cemetary. Turn left at the exit and keep walking and in 15-20 mins you'll find you've done a loop back to the church and cottage. Also you'll pass the highly recommended Wheatsheaf pub on the left!

The pretty market town of Louth with its Georgian architecture is perfect those wanting to get away to the Lincolnshire Wolds, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage is an ideal starting point for walkers and cyclists or for those wanting an excellent base from which to explore the region, indeed many of the local recommended walks in the area use St James Church opposite the cottage as a starting point.
The privacy that the cottage affords visitors means it is ideal as a romantic getaway with many local independent pubs and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk, allowing visitors to do away with their cars whilst staying. There are also a good number of local shops selling local produce, other local items, antiques and art.
From October through to December Louth is the ideal place to stay for the internationally famous Donna Nook Nature Reserve where the Grey Seals come to have their pups. This is a must for visitors at this time of the year, as is a walk along the stunning coastline at any time of the year.
Lincoln’s famous Christmas market and Cleethorpes quaint seaside attractions make it ideal all year round to visit.
The property is on the Bus network, with regular buses to Lincoln and in the other direction Cleethorpes and the excellent coastline.
