This was a great place to stay. We loved the access to the bay from this location. Great snorkeling from the house as well as kayaking . The on site manager, Jessa was welcoming and helpful.

Incredible setting with direct access to Kealakekua Bay. We enjoyed snorkeling and kayaking in the bay. Lots of beautiful fish. Great views of spinner dolphins on our last morning. Having kayaks, PFDs, paddles, boogie boards, coolers, reef shoes, fins, and coolers available is much appreciated. Jessa was wonderful in every way. She has a wealth of knowledge of where to find the best food and other local attractions. She shared home made soup and freshly baked banana bread with us. We are very much looking forward to spending more time on the Big Island here again in the near future.

This home is just perfect for a quiet retreat. House is old and classic Hawaii with big porch and comfy chairs to watch the day come alive, and the sunset. The kayaks are perfect, take whenever you want to go out! We have booked for next year for 2 extra days!!!

Words can’t express how beautiful this place is. The home has everything you need and then some. Jessa who is the caretaker of the home was amazing! Thank you for sharing your home! Can’t wait to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lil staycation at Lawai’a hale as we we’re there for our first ever family reunion for the Gaspar Ohana plus my husband has many memories of this home which was owned by the Leslie Ohana & where he would help launch the canoes off that ramp, his first job was fishing with Robert Leslie, many wonderful memories where shared of our family while staying at Lawai’a hale. Ama was wonderful & the family staying downstairs were so kind. A few recommendation, the living room floor should be repaired/renovated, there are several dips/holes/uneven areas that creek when walking over uneven parts which is covered by an area rug, somewhat dangerous if the floor gave way & when the lights are turned on in the house the nats/bugs/black ants came in droids & lay dead/dying on countertops/tables/end tables in kitchen/dining/living room & porch areas.
