Barrington was very welcoming and friendly! He told us all about the property including trails that we were welcome to explore. The cabin itself is small but functions very well for two people. We cooked dinner two nights during our stay and the kitchen had everything we needed - pots/pans, utensils, hot plate for cooking, toaster oven, outdoor grill. The bed was very comfortable, however, it is somewhat damp in the cottage so our portable fan came in handy for humid nights. The private beach is gorgeous and easily accessed by an awesome path (very walkable with a 6month old baby attached to me!). We didn’t see another soul on the whole beach both times we went. The treehouse (also reachable by the goat path) has stunning views of the water. We enjoyed some Chianti and watched the sunset one night. Overall, it was amazing and I highly recommend! Hope to return one day!

We stayed at the Council Tree Cabin for a week and absolutely loved it. Quiet, serene, and an incredible beach perfect for relaxing and bird watching. Hosts Barry and Jamie were wonderful. They gave us spot-on recommendations and made sure we were comfortable. The cabin is beautiful and has such an interesting history that our hosts knew all about and were happy to share with us. If you want a real up-north-cabin experience, this is your spot, exactly what we wanted. Honestly, you won't regret staying here. It's even better than the photos.

Council Tree Cabin is an enchanting, rustic refuge in the majestic pine forest of Northern Michigan. The private beach is awesome: the lake strtches as far as the eye can see, shallow enough for swimming and wading. Access to the beach is down a path or many steps, which might be an issue for some. We saw eagles, waterfowl, and a fox. We enjoyed cool nights and days warm enough to swim. Barrie and Jamie were warm and attentive hosts. We hope this is the first of many visits to come.

Barrie and Jamie really go above and beyond. They put a lot of thought and work into the place and respond immediately to any questions. The cabin is very comfortable and has all the essentials. The beach is among the nicest of Lake Michigan I’ve seen. It’s pristine and secluded. The path down to the beach is quite steep and winding. It was fine for us but anyone with limited mobility would have trouble. Overall, this is an excellent spot and we would definitely return.

It was a complete joy to stay at this cabin - the beach was very private and they had just finished a deck overseeing the lake that had amazing views. The cabin itself was charming, had a high-tech fridge, toaster oven, and everything you'd need to have a comfortable stay. Amazing hospitality and would recommend this as a must stay for anyone in the area.
