I cannot recommend staying here enough! Virginia and Luis always made sure we were taken care of. They made going on excursions a breeze. Luis made a delight breakfast for us! Not to mention the views are outstanding. I felt so incredibly welcomed the moment we got there. It really made our honeymoon so special, everyone at Villa Cayo and the Belize Caving Expeditions were phenomenal.
Awesome and private location five minutes from San Ignacio downtown. Perfect home base for our adventures in the area. The road is a little rough up the hill to the villa, however it’s short and we made it in and out of the villa daily without issue. 4x4 vehicle recommended, but not required. We never had to use it. Loved the rooftop’s outdoor space, especially the cooking area! Had everything we needed and used it daily. I also enjoyed the outdoor shower. The views are unmatched from the patio. Housekeeping team also did a stellar job. It was amazing to come home to a clean unit every single day. Host was ultra-responsive every time I had a question. Thank you Virgina and Luis for a wonderful stay!
Virginia is the best. Her property is beautiful. The landscape and rooms are all laid out perfectly. The place is clean and comfortable. We felt safe and right at home. She helped with everything and went above and beyond to make our trip great.
Virginia and Benino were great. They communicated by email and in person very well. And they were proactive in contacting us when our visit was near. We stayed in unit 7 on the top floor and the views were spectacular. Anything we needed was provided and our stay was great. Transportation into town each day and to tours was perfect. Romel did a great job and was always on time. We had a great stay and would definitely return. Thank you!
We had an incredible experience on the Villa Cayo Rooftop. Virginia and Ken could not have been better hosts, the views from the rooftop of their place are incredible and the location to town makes it an easy choice. We had not planned on cooking, but their full outdoor kitchen made it enjoyable. We were so high up that we had complete privacy, which made the outdoor shower so fun! The Cayo District
Belize has a lot to offer to travelers, and the Cayo District in Western Belize is ground zero if you want to make the most of your time here. Guatemala is just a stone’s throw away, but you could stay for months without having to cross over the border to find new things to do.
Cayo used to be the beating heart of the Maya civilization in Belize, and that means that there are still plenty of well-preserved ruins to explore. The same qualities that made Cayo such fertile territory for the Mayas also makes it an ideal location to live, work, and play.
Vast and seemingly endless networks of caves create a fascinating and parallel underworld to what happens on the surface, and these once sacred networks of underground have become popular destinations for spelunking and cave tubing. Aboveground, Cayo is bursting at the seams with hiking trails, dense jungles, and refreshing swimming holes. The low population density and an admirable commitment to ecological preservation contribute to one of the most beautiful and diverse stretches of wilderness in the world.
We can provide transportation packages that include a private shuttle to and from the airport, with taxis available anytime as well as to/from town every night to enjoy our local cuisine and economical to extravagant tour packages.
If you decide to rent a vehicle I would highly recommend Crystal Auto Rentals located right on the Int'l airport for dependable vehicles and no rip off techniques on return. If you book your vehicle online prior to arrival they will give you a 7% discount. On pick-up they give you a local pre-paid phone and an ice chest to pick up supplies. The thing I like the best about them is they usually recommend a 4 wheel which will get you anywhere and you can purchase the insurance to drive into Guatemala to visit Tikal on your own. They are the only auto rental company that does that.

I am Virginia Krohn and I am not only the owner of Villa Cayo but I designed, drew the plans for and built the villas. I am also a real estate broker and the owner of Belize Live-Retire-Invest which is myself and a group of expats dedicated to helping other people relocate to Belize. Originally from Texas I am a sculptor, painter and a custom home builder who knows how to pay attention to detail. After visiting Belize in the '80s my husband and I returned to the states, sold our home and business and relocated to Belize in 1991. Living on the beach for almost 20 years just 60' from that beautiful teal water was magical. As the island changed the magic did disappear and the new dream became building a luxury Eco-resort in the jungle. One of the best things I like about Belize is that I can afford to have someone help run our business, have a housekeeper and a gardener which allows me the time to do the creative things I want to do while providing jobs for talented Belizeans. Belize is not for everyone and it is only what you make of it.
