We recently had a 3 night stay and found the house to be really well situated, well equipped and plenty of room for all of us (5 adults, 2 children, 2 babies). Prior to our booking, I contacted host Neil to ask a few questions and he was extremely helpful, friendly and quick to respond. Neil provided really clear directions, making a tucked away house easy to find. Unfortunately, there did seem to be an issue with woodlouse throughout the house, during our stay. I reported this to Neil, who again was quick to respond. Sadly this did affect our stay but we do understand that nothing could be done at that time and Neil let us know that he would be attending to the issue immediately after our check out. That aside, we did have a lovely time and the house offered exactly what we needed to accommodate two families and my elderly nan, as there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor.

We wanted a getaway over New Year. Neil was so pleasant and helpful I would love to return. We were challenged by the great British weather but that was the only problem. We had a great time - great facilities.

Great place in a lovely location. Neil is a great host, provides lots of information about the house and also the local area. The house was cosy and warm, with a very well equipped kitchen, and we loved the fresh milk vending machine just up the road!

We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful setting of Neil’s place and the views of the farm and hills. The property was comfortable, clean and as advertised with everything you need. Really good location to access main Forest of Dean attractions which are typically less than 15 minutes away by car.

We had a great stay at Blackpool Cottage. The cottage itself was clean, spacious and very well equipped. The surroundings were peaceful and private. We walked across the field to the Milkshed where the children really loved getting milkshakes from the local farm’s vending machine! Lots of activities to do in the surrounding areas such as the golf driving range in Upton Bishop, Puzzlewood, boat trips on the river Wye and a lovely day out at Eastnor Castle which has a really good children’s play area which even the older kids loved! Also pay a visit to Leaf Creative Garden Centre which has an excellent cafe and great shopping. As for food, we drove a bit further afield and we’re rewarded with excellent pub food at The Green Man in Fownhope, Ye Old Ferry Inn on the river Wye was also very good and for fresh farm produce and excellent homemade goods, head to Over Farm Market. Overall, we loved our stay here and would not hesitate to return!
