Without a doubt, our host was incredible and would highly recommend it to others. The quality of service was favourable and many times we messaged we had quick responses for example, we asked to check in a little earlier and she was lovely about it. Ruth provided us with generous recommendations for various activities. The house was cleaned well upon arrival and was fully furnished with more than enough equipment. We had adequate cutlery for our meals and enjoyed many cosy evenings in the master bedroom with the fire on. Both rooms were well maintained showing no signs of structural damage and the beds were comfy. All the facilities were in operation. The location was within 5 minutes from the market and bus connections. Local shops were nearby which was handy when we required a little more food after a long day.

Een mooie en nette cottage. Voorzien van veel basisbenodigdheden, zoals in de keuken. De inrichting is gezellig. Het ligt aan de rand van het dorp, waardoor je weinig merkt van de drukte in het dorp. Het heeft een mooi uitzicht op de omgeving. De communicatie met Ruth was heel goed, ze is erg behulpzaam. We hebben er een heel fijn verblijf gehad!

We had an enjoyable stay at the cottage. The place is as described and equipped with everything you might need for cooking, relaxing and even walking (walking poles, flask and snack boxes left for us to use). My kids enjoyed evening games of pool which is a great little addition to the cottage. Castleton is a lovely but busy little town. The location of the cottage was perfect; close to the town centre but away from the busy areas. Parking is on-road which was an issue one day. There was no problem finding a parking space when we arrived (Thursday) however on Saturday morning, after a quick trip to the local shops, we found ourselves circling the area for 20min trying to find a space. My advice would be to leave the car behind by the cottage on weekends and enjoy local walks. Parking during the week is not a problem which is when you may want to venture further afield without the worry of finding parking on your return. We had a lovely long weekend at the cottage and in the area.

We had a fantastic time in Ruth’s beautiful cottage. It was comfortable, really well equipped and perfectly located - near all the shops, pubs and restaurant and also at the starting point for lots of lovely walks. Ruth gave us great tips for activities and places to eat, and her guidebook and maps in the cottage were really useful. A wonderful host and experience for our first stay in the Peak District!
