The kitchen is well equipped and adjoins the living space. The cottage is tucked away among jacaranda and eucalyptus trees, apart from the other 3 houses on the property. There's a sun drenched patio on which to enjoy your morning coffee and view the mountain tops through the trees. Casa Raab is located on 40 acres in the foothills of San Pablo, Etla, bordering the Benito Juarez National Forest. We are a 20 minute drive to/from El Centro de Oaxaca and 20 minutes from the Monte Alban ruins. Please Note: Discounted monthly rates are also available. Both Casa Grande and La Casita have access to the swimming pool, the patios, the fields, the mineral springs, the onyx mine, agave fields and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. You can swim, sun, hike, bike and enjoy rich birding (250 species) right here on the property and the surrounding hills. There's also a good ol' fashioned jam session every week, with local musicians and their instruments. We frequently play music under the evening lights out at the mezcal still. Our staff cleans La Casita every other day. Laundry services are also available. The property is equipped with high speed, fiber optic, internet and WiFi is available throughout. There is strong cell phone coverage. Kids love to play with the animals. We have parrots, turtles, burros, horses, dogs, cats...and sometimes puppies! Casa Raab is the home of Megan House Animal Center, which is dedicated to the ongoing rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of abandoned and needy animals in and around the City of Oaxaca. Casa Raab grows its own agave plants for mezcal production on site. We have over 10,000 agaves growing in various fields and we distill several times a year. Ask us about visiting/participating when we are doing "a run" through the still. We also offer tastings of artisanal mezcals from various producers around the region, including our own. Our personalized Mezcal Tours to the outer villages are some of the best available. There are several methods of transportation to centro. We can arrange a taxi with a reputable driver, you can take a moto taxi to a combi or you can hop the local bus.
