Meadow Cottage is a peaceful retreat with a view of a large serene meadow. Just one mile to historic Nevada City, and 3 miles to Grass Valley, it is perfect for vacationing guests, or for those who may need to work, or both. The cottage shares a five-acre lot with an old Victorian homestead where the hosts live. Guests may walk on several walking trails in the area. The Yuba River is just a 20-minute drive away. The Cottage The cottage is separate from the main house. The living area is cozy and aesthetically pleasing, with comfortable seating. The cottage contains books, a flat screen TV (streaming, not cable), and wi-fi. A private porch with outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ looks out on the meadow. The full kitchen includes most things guests will need to make meals. The master bedroom comes with a queen-sized bed and lovely views. The second bedroom has an optional double-size Murphy wall-bed and a large desk. In the summer, guests can cool themselves with a powerful evaporative cooler; in the cooler months, there is central heat and a gas fireplace. The bathrooms are well stocked, including towels, washcloths, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and a first aid kit. The living-room floor plan is snug, with limited seating. For that reason, we limit the unit to three adult guests (see photos). Where you'll sleep The master bedroom comes with a queen-sized bed. Duvets and cotton quilts are available depending on the season. Master bath has a tub and shower. The second bedroom has an optional double-size wall bed and a large desk. The 2nd bathroom, across the hall from this bedroom, has a shower. The Property The property is natural and non-manicured. The large meadow is wild, but will be watered and mowed from time to time. Chickens, two cats and a small dog may be encountered outside, along with a family of deer who often appear at dusk. Parking is available in the driveway. In addition to the cottage, this five-acre historic property holds an old Victorian farmhouse built in 1870, a Tiny House on wheels, a remodeled 1957 Shasta Trailer, and a chicken coop. The hosts live in the main house with their acoustic instruments, and pets. The hens, several fruit trees, and a large vegetable garden can yield eggs, flowers, and seasonal fruits, and vegetables which may be available to guests, if in season. The meadow is a lovely spot for star-gazing at night. Important Note: We have a very effective Evaporative Cooler, which cools the entire cottage AND allows you to have a window or door open. We do not have a standard air conditioner. We also provide an air-purifier. We do not have Cable TV, however we have an Apple TV which can stream Netflix and Prime video and which can also stream anything from your laptop or smartphone over wifi.
