Cactus has just had a very big renovation and facelift. It is a very modern and bright space finished to exacting standards. Cactus has some of the best views of Emu Bay. Hidden away from the road, the living area and deck are wonderfully open plan, and perfect for seamless entertaining. The master suite is also on the front, with ensuite. Two further bedrooms accommodate up to 6 guests, with another living area, and additional shower room and laundry. The beach is just a few minutes walk. Cactus is looking wonderful after its big renovation. Almost everything is new- new floors, windows, kitchen, and bathrooms. We are thrilled about the new look and can’t wait to share it with you. Everything has been finished to very high standards, and is now one of the nicest houses to rent on the front at spectacular Emu Bay. Arguably the most private of all rentals on the front row. Most important is the view. The house maximises the uninterrupted view from the huge deck, open plan living room and master bedroom. The new kitchen has been designed for people who love to cook. Miele oven, Miele induction cooktop, Miele dishwasher and integrated Bosch fridges. Everything you need is there for high level entertaining and cooking. You will also find very high quality linen and towels. The front garden has been planted to be high enough to block the view of the road and provide maximum privacy. There are a few colonies of fairy penguins under the deck, and in the hedge- they do make a little noise at night. It is also common to see koalas in the trees at the back of the property too.

The Cactus exceeded our expectations. The property was immaculate, thoughtfully appointed, and welcoming. A perfect retreat for either couples wanting a quiet getaway or a families looking to enjoy a holiday at a clean, sheltered beach. The deck and its fabulous view over the bay was a highlight, as was the nightly arrival of the penguins, who would call to one another across the bay as they made their way to their nests and settled in for the night. Sue was an excellent host, both prompt and helpful in her communications. We highly recommend her as an Air BnB host.
I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful bay-facing property and it truly exceeded our expectations! The cleanliness of the house was impeccable, making us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in. As someone traveling with a young child who has specific dietary needs, the well-stocked kitchen was a lifesaver. The variety of utensils, appliances, and kitchenware made everything so convenient. Sue was very thoughtful as a host – from plenty of fresh linens to baby cot and feeding chair. It's these little thoughtful touches that made our stay not just comfortable but delightful. The serene view of the bay added to our relaxing getaway, and I genuinely appreciated how well-maintained and equipped the entire place was. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a hassle-free and enjoyable experience.
This place is amazing. If you are considering booking here - do yourself a favour and book. Amazing host, super friendly and great recommendations. And the views and amenities in the Airbnb are amazing. If you love wildlife this place is fantastic - you can hear penguins under the deck which is so cute. Can not recommend enough. And extra win our dog adored this place!

“Cactus” at Emu Bay is an amazing airbnb. It is well equiped with up to the moment Miele appliances in the kitchen, newly renovated bathrooms comfy beds and great outdoor furniture that allows you to relax and soak up the incredible view of the entire bay and beach. This was our second visit and already planning for next year

The highlight is the beautiful safe swimming beach that is Emu Bay. Clear blue waters for swimming and 6 k's of beach to walk each day. Dolphins can be seen most days. The beach can also be driven on.
You are in a very small beachside community.
The boat ramp is just minutes away, as is the lovely pop up food van during the summer months. Emu Bay lavender Farm and Cafe are a 5 minute drive and is open all year round.
Fishing off the jetty can also be enjoyed. It is also the pick up point for Kangaroo island marine adventures (Dolphin swimming)
It is easy to get around on foot but you must have a car as there are no taxis on kangaroo island.
