Very quiet and away from entertainment (pub next door closed for renovations). Enjoyed the quiet. The house was very comfortable.

Before booking Mik's cottage, I had no idea where Garrigill was - but what a treat. it's like finding a gem in a treasure chest. It was quiet, peaceful, gorgeous surroundings, amazing walks from the doorstep, Cross Fell within reach, no need to drive. The cottage itself is very well equipped - fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and includes downstairs toilet too. For those cold evenings or if you get snowed in (like we did), you can have a night in by the fire - just make sure you have enough firewood. Thank you so much, Mik, for the walking recommendations too - Ashgill Force was absolutely worth the second visit.

A gorgeous place but - sadly - currently mired by building work. Mik’s house is beautiful and very well equipped. Garrigill is normally an absolute haven and we did lots of fabulous walking and cycling from the house and found plenty of lovely swim spots nearby. Unfortunately, there is currently building work on both sides and in very close proximity to the house. Builders were considerate but they arrived at 7.30am and the noise and dust significantly detracted from the peace and tranquillity we had been hoping for.

Rosemary cottage was a perfect stop over on our way to Scotland in a very quite village but close enough to facilities in Alston if needed.
