This little cottage was perfect. From the comfortable bedrooms, powerful shower, easy heating, spectacular views, comfortable lounging and fire to the well equipped kitchen - it had it all. We loved our stay here. Thank you
Gladys and Terry's place is a lovely little cottage situated in a stunning location with views of rolling hills, little lambs, and tranquil sounds of nature. The place was clean and the milk and biscuits left in the fridge were a really nice touch! Although I didn't get the chance to speak to Gladys and Terry during my stay they were easily accessible and left very helpful instructions. I'd definitely recommend the walk to Ashgill Force waterfall - the public footpath to it is directly from the cottage which makes it even better! I loved using the logburner and could even help myself to extra logs if I ran out. I had a really lovely stay, and would definitely recommend!
We loved our stay at Gladys place—the last stop on a three-week tour of Ireland and the UK. A comfortable beautiful place to end the journey. Kitchen was fully stocked, beds were comfortable, wood stove warmed the house, and we loved watching the lambs frolicking in the fields. Thank you Gladys and Terry—we’ll be back!
Great views. Lovely and quiet. Very near both Northumberland and County Durham, but your in Cumbria. Lovely and warm. Which was required as weather was bitter with the late spring this year. Thank you.
What a lovely hidden gem. Situated down a slope away from the road with beautiful scenery for miles. A cosy little cottage with everything you need for a perfect getaway. I booked this for my 2 children (ages 18, 12), our little dog and myself and we loved it. It was very clean, spacious bedrooms and it was lovely and warm with the heating on when it got chilly at night. It does have a log burner but we didn’t need to use it. There was a selection of board games, books and pencil crayons available and a tv. Gladys had put some milk and biscuits in the fridge for us. Perfect for a cuppa after our journey. I would highly recommend Gladys and Terry, very welcoming and always at the end of the phone if needed 5*
Maple cottage, on the Pennine Way and C2C cycle route, is surrounded by fields and is fantastic for walkers with public footpaths literally on the doorstep. Garrigill village with post office and village shop is a 5-10 minute walk over the fields or 3 minutes in the car by road.
Alston, the highest market town in England with a cobbled main street and many stone buildings dating from the 17th Century, is 5 minutes by car. There you will find small supermarkets, a variety of independent shops, a selection of pubs, petrol stations and the steam railway(seasonal). Skiing at Yad Moss is 5 minutes away.
Further afield, it is a one hour journey to the start of the Northern Lakes, one hour to Hadrian’s Wall, just over an hour to the Yorkshire Dales, 45 minutes to Hexham or Carlisle and 30 minutes to Teesdale.
