I am South African, and married to an Orcadian (someone from the Orkney Islands, Scotland). I have come to love everything about the village of Stromness, where our 5 sea front cottages are located in Orkney - its authenticity, the total lack of commercialism, the uncritical attitude that prevails, the live and let live atmosphere and the quiet extreme beauty surrounding all parts of the Islands. The Cottages are set in a quiet environment, but in close walking distance to each other and all other fun amenities such as local pubs, deli's, museum and golf club. The Cottages are set in the most prime sea front part of Orkney where the sea is so dynamic, boisterous and interesting to look at - and changes its personality several times a day. And as the sun rises across Scapa Flow - it is something to behold! Great photographic opportunities! Bring your binocs too, since you can also see the seals on the two small islands not too far from the Cottages as well as other interesting sea wild life. We have 5 Cottages in Stromness, Orkney. Four of them are right on the sea, a few meters from the sea. There are two 4-bedroom Cottages, a 3-bedroom, a 2-bedroom and a 1.5 bedroom. They are all 4 star, extremely well-equipped, like an over-the-top home owner and all have Cook's Larders too (a selection of over 30 different Coffees, Teas and Hot Chocolates; sugars, cooking oils and herbs, condiments and cleaning detergents for the dish washers and washing machines). So when you stay there, you will find everything you could need and more than even in your own home. Four of them also have their own private parking areas, which is most unusual for sea front properties in Stromness to have. Two of them also have their own slipways (you ban bring your boat with you). Four of them have access to the little stony beach at low tide. They also each have their own character and are full of charm and a feel-good feeling! Definitely lifts the spirits!
