New Galloway · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室4床2.0卫 · 可住6人 · Auld Mill House - Old World Charm in New Galloway
Lovingly updated, classic 3-story historic home built in the early 1800s. Loads of old world charm with modern comforts in a quaint village nestled between Loch Ken and the Galloway Forest. Sleep comfortably in Super King memory foam mattresses in the 1st floor bedrooms. Watch Sky TV/Sports in two living rooms, one has a stone hearth log burner, the other has a fireplace. Go for tranquil walks on local roads or head into the forest nearby. Loch Ken is nearby for your favorite water sports. Auld Mill House is situated over 3 floors. GROUND FLOOR: has two living rooms, one of which can convert into a dining room for 6 people by utilizing the drop leaf table under the tv and folding chairs in the bookcase storage, if desired. Both living rooms have flat screen TVs you can watch Sky TV/Sports on, or log into your favorite apps and utilize the very fast internet speeds. There is also a well-equipped kitchen, and a newly-renovated bathroom with shower/bath. The patio outside seats 6. FIRST FLOOR: has a large Master with en suite shower room, and a good sized second bedroom with sink. Both have TVs. SECOND FLOOR: has a cute cabin-feel bedroom with two single beds. Stairs up to this floor have a 5’ 9” clearance and are narrower and slightly steeper than the first flight (see photos). Something to consider for very young children and those with mobility issues.
It’s an old property (1800’s) so it certainly has its quirks… but don’t let that put you off, modern where it needs to be, very comfy with loads of space to relax in.
Beautiful cottage with great facilities , wonderful personal touches and great value for money. If I could have given 6 stars I would have done. Tony
We had a lovely relaxing short break at the beautiful Auld Mill House. Home from home. Would definitely recommend 😊 .
We had a wonderful break in Nikki and Ryan’s place. It was so cosy and the beds are really comfy! The area is outstanding, amazing forests and lovely villages to visit. Hardly any traffic, it is like going back in time. The red deer park is really worth a visit, be sure to take some fresh fruit and veg for the deer (they loved the lettuce and strawberries we took!) We will definitely be returning, still so much more to discover in Galloway and we would definitely stay here again.
New Galloway is on the edge of the designated Dark Sky Park in Galloway Forest, which is over 300 sq miles and full of trails for walking and mountain biking. Just a mile from Loch Ken, the area also offers plenty of activities for water sports enthusiasts or those who just enjoy relaxing on or beside the water.
The New Galloway Community Shop is well-stocked with essential and gourmet provisions. Fire wood is available for purchase.
The Catstrand is a local arts and entertainment licensed cafe a few buildings away. Typically open for breakfast and lunch. Serves fresh pastries, soups, sannies, baked potatoes, etc. The gift shop is wonderful.
New Galloway also has a post office with local souvenirs for purchase to remember your stay.
The Clachan is a phenomenal dinner spot in nearby St. John’s Town of Dalry. Has full bar and exquisite, creative food. Also has standard fare like fish and chips and burgers if you’d prefer. Reservations highly recommended.
The Lochinvar in Dalry is a newly renovated pub that serves traditional pub food.
Petrol station is in Dalry and sells some basic groceries and firewood.
Castle Douglas is a designated Food Town and is a 20 minute drive away. It has a large Tesco, an award-winning fish and chip shop called Moore’s, a delicious Indian restaurant called The Jewel in the Crown, plus many other wonderful restaurants, cafes, and gift shops.
Kirkcudbright is an absolute delight for scenery and food, and is a 30-minute drive from New Galloway.
自我介绍
I'm from San Diego, CA and my husband (Ryan) is from Dumfries, Scotland. We lived in Atlanta for 6 years but prior to that we lived in NYC for 4. We now own our own vacation rental in New Galloway, Scotland, and live in it part time and travel the rest of the year. We “work from home” and just need our computers and a solid internet connection to get things done. I'm an audio engineer specializing in audio books and he is a former youth soccer coach for Atlanta United who left that job a few years ago to work with me. We have pretty busy schedules so we highly value very cozy, inviting places when we travel. We love visiting places where we can walk a lot - be it cities or hiking mountains - then having dinner out and coming back for a night cap. The one from California loves wine but the one from Scotland loves whisky (surprise, surprise), and this is about as complicated as our relationship gets. :-)
