Had an incredible stay, so peaceful and serene. The views at sunset are spectacular, just sitting on the patio was worth the drive. The house has so many thoughtful touches and the kitchen is very functional and well stocked. Ariya was helpful and friendly, if you want a private and peaceful stay in Idyllwild this is your spot!

This is our third stay at Ariya & Mark's beautiful sanctuary and every time we return we appreciate it even more. The land is beautiful. The home is private and quiet and nestled in the tree tops. The interior -a beautiful open space, full of light - is thoughtfully designed with the highest caliber of products and appliances. They have thought of everything you could need and more. We appreciate everything about this place!

The view is incredible and I was pleasantly surprised to find a great hiking trail (Ernie Maxwell Scenic Trail) within a few minutes walk of the cabin. The design/style is lovely and the driveway is steep!

I am a traveler drawn to remote places and the people who end up there. I like Type II adventure - hiking, camping, skiing, diving, paddling, being hungry, being cold, getting tossed by wind and misled by strangers in foreign places. I like it because it makes you instantly humble and 1000x more appreciative of kindness or thoughtful luxuries. I like meeting people who are traipsing around just like me, and whatever we talk about when clamored around the same fire, or hitchhiking in the back of the same pickup truck with dust in our teeth. There is such intimacy in knocking knees and sharing stories together, such honesty when you don’t feel the need to have everything all figured out. I am thankful to all the people who have invited me into their homes. As a host I only want to share the same kindness. I had been using the mountains as an escape hatch from normal life for years. I finally left LA and moved to Idyllwild so I could have a hatch right out my back door. The joy of course is now that I’m here, becoming a part of the community and tethered to the woods, I find myself with nothing to run away from.
