Unwind in style with a glass of something fizzy and delicious, snuggling by the roaring wood burner with a blanket and a good book. A country-cottage kitchen/diner is a wonderful space for cooking up a storm, creating culinary masterpieces from locally sourced ingredients. Perch at the table or venture outside to the patio for some al fresco dining, until it is time to sit back and stargaze. Upstairs, an exquisite bathroom will prove far too tempting for long soaks in the free-standing bath, and the bedroom is a delight with crisp bedding and authentic decor. Lakeside Pier is the nearest place to catch a boat on Lake Windermere, a brilliant excursion after a stroll around beautiful Newby Bridge, 4 miles away. Hop off the ferry and explore Ambleside, visiting the pretty shops and settling down to a warming brew and giant slab of homemade cake in one of the cafes and tearooms. A short 1.5-mile walk will bring you to the inspiring Stock Ghyll Force, an iconic 70-foot waterfall guaranteed to impress.
