The Old Quarter is a gorgeous period property with thick stone walls, oak beams and loads of original charm. Nestled in the heart of Ashburton on a quiet road with no through traffic; guests can enjoy peace and privacy with a short, level walk to the town's vibrant mix of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. You can be on the open moors within minutes or, if you drive half an hour to the coast, sunning yourself on the beautiful English Riviera. Wifi and USB charging points available. Originally part of a Georgian townhouse, The Old Quarter has been recently refurbished to a high standard and can sleep up to 4 people. Upstairs the bedrooms are spacious and airy, with a calm and happy vibe. There is also a newly fitted bathroom. Downstairs the spacious and relaxing living room sits across the hall from the kitchen which is well equipped with plenty of storage and ample space for dining. There is a washing machine and separate WC. Outside the front door is a very useful covered way, large enough for bikes and great for muddy boots and outdoor gear. There is a small seating area with table and chairs in the courtyard, this gets the morning-early afternoon sun, but perfectly shady for cooling off in the late afternoon and evening. The Old Quarter is an ideal space for families or friends.

Lovely tucked away place within easy reach of the park and the town. The weather was amazing and the courtyard had sun for most of the day. Lots of character and Ashburton is very friendly place. Wonderful!
Wat een prachtig gerenoveerd pand en zeer smaakvol ingericht. Alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig en in het dorp is alles op loopafstand aanwezig. Fijn dat je je auto op het terrein kunt parkeren.

Don’t let the photos fool you, for English standards this is a spacious Airbnb and was really nice to stay at. You really are staying in the center of Ashburton. I found the directions very clear and easy to follow. The Airbnb is a smaller division of a greater house, so you walk into a shared courtyard, and tuck to the right. There’s a private little entrance. There is a staircase up the center of the property with two downstairs rooms (kitchen and living room) and two upstairs bedrooms. We had children’s travel cots in each bedroom with PLENTY of more space available. Because it is a portion of a larger house, you can hear people moving about from the floors above and next to you, but it’s not too loud. We had a tiny bit of trouble with spotty wifi, but it wasn’t a business trip, so it posed no problem. When we reached out via messaging with a question, we had an immediate response. We ended up extending our stay two nights. We loved it!!!!
We had a wonderful stay at The Old Quarter in Ashburton - the house is central and yet very tucked away and private. With two good-sized double bedrooms. This was a great introduction to Ashburton! Blue and Dee next door were very welcoming and gave us lots of advice about where to go, to hike, to swim and to eat!

Ashburton is known as the gateway to Dartmoor National Park with miles of easily accessible footpaths and cycling routes. Steeped in history, this medieval stannary town is now a thriving hub for foodies & antique hunters alike, boasting a fabulous programme of performances in the Arts Centre. Walk for 1 minute in the opposite direction from town to find Ashburton Outdoor Swimming Pool (open May-Sept). There is a recreation ground with play equipment, and a skate park 30 seconds away along a footpath. Local, home made ice cream can be bought right across the road on Fridays and Saturdays.
Ashburton sits on the south side of Dartmoor. This gives guests the option of visiting both Exeter and Plymouth with equal ease, and there are bus routes running throughout the day.
We have a good selection of walking guides and maps that guests are welcome to borrow during their stay.
