Violet is a vintage, traditional shepherds hut, sited 100m from Walltown Crags and within the dark skies of Northumberland where the milky way can be seen with the naked eye. It's a short drive to the popular town of Haltwhistle with its excellent transport links and has the benefit and convenience of a bus stop just outside. The hut enjoys uninterrupted views of Hadrians Wall & North Pennines AONB. Perfect for a relaxing short break or stopover for walkers walking the National trails. Violet our vintage shepherds hut is situated in an enclosed corner of the garden of our home, with its own seperate gated access. She is a large 20ft x 8ft providing a roomy and comfortable glamping experience. Violet has a fully en suite toilet/shower room, quirky, wood burning cooking stove, full size double bed with memory foam mattress, induction hob (for days when you don't want to light the stove!), toaster, sofa, dining table together with and outside patio furniture and bbq (charcoal not supplied). The hut has stunning uninterrupted views across to the North Pennines AONB. She offers the perfect rustic glamping experience, in a beautiful, peaceful location under the Northumberland dark skies where the milky way can be seen with the naked eye on a clear dark winters night (regular stargazing events are available locally). If you want a camp site with a club house and disco, a stay in Violet isn't for you, but if you enjoy, peace, solitude, beautiful views, walks, nature, stargazing and history then she couldn't be more perfect. Being located right on both the Hadrians Wall Path, Hadrians Cycleway and Pennine Way, she also offers a perfect and quirky stopover for walkers and cyclists, and with both the local pub and tea room being within walking distance (0.7 miles/15 min walk) there's a number of great, handy food options for anybody without transport. Oh, and don't be fooled by our postcode and postal address, whilst our postal town is Brampton, this is 10 miles away. We are firmly in Northumberland on the western edge of the Northumberland National Park. We provide an initial supply of wood for the hot tub which should be sufficient for your a decent soak each day of your stay provided the fire is lit and tended properly and materials are not wasted. As we cannot always be around ahead of check in and once lit, the fire must be tended to keep it burning, the HOT TUB WILL NOT BE PREHEATED ahead of your arrival, so please only book if you are happy to embrace the heating of the hot tub as part of the fun of your glamping experience. We are happy to light it for you during check in, if requested, provided you intend remaining on site. Heating should take approx 2 hours to heat (depending upon your proficiency in heating and tending to it and external temperatures).
A cosy place in a beautiful location....our first time in the area and we were not disappointed by either the accommodation or location. Alison and James were so helpful with comms and check in. Thanks you. Highly recommended.
This is a cute and cosy hut in a nice location. It is at the end of a garden but very private and secluded. The hut is small but it has everything you need. The hosts instructions were clear and they were very welcoming. The hot tub took a bit of time and effort but was totally worth it to take a soak at sunset and relax whilst listening to the birds. The area is lovely, with access to Hadrian's Wall just a couple of hundred metres away so lots of walking from the doorstep. A really lovely getaway.
Had a lovely few days, the hut had the essentials and it was cosy! The location and surroundings were beautiful. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the hot tub or the fire going the first night and we had to buy more wood, kindling and firelighters but we managed to get it going the second night and it was lovely once we were in! I have been to many air B&B huts before and they have always had the hot tub started or the hut was already warm and ready for us, and little extras like games, dressing gowns but this lacked in the little touches that you appreciate. But all that aside we had a lovely stay.
Lovely 2 night stay, Ali and James were very friendly and responsive. Setting was beautiful with gorgeous surroundings!
Alison and James were very friendly and easily approachable, they gladly gave information of surrounding area, towns and villages to walk or drive to. The Hut was lovely and warm and held heat well once the stove was going. Beautiful views from the door. Throughly enjoyed our stay, will definitely recommend to friends and families
Rural, beautiful and peaceful, yet very accessible. Situated on the far western fringe of the Northumberland National Park just 100m from the most spectacular stretch of Hadrians Wall and within the dark sky Park and just 2.5 miles from Haltwhistle to the south and from the Northumberland/Cumbria border to the west and 10 miles from our postal town of Brampton (we have a Cumbria postcode but are in Northumberland) with its pretty cobbled high street.
The Local pub which serves excellent meals is 0.7 miles/15 minutes walk from the hut and a bus stop for the AD122 Hadrians Wall tourist bus which stops at all of the main sites on the Northumberland stretch of Hadrians Wall is just outside our property.
There is a bus stop directly outside the property from which the AD122 Hadrians Wall bus runs daily throughout the summer to all sites along Hadrians Wall.
