Beachwalk Cottage is in the secluded beachfront community of Little Harbour on Nova Scotia’s South Shore.
Directly across the road is a beach meadow that is home to a wide variety of bird species. A short walk up the road takes you to a wooded path that opens onto the beach. Over a kilometer long, Arnolds Beach is a natural white sandy beach with rock pools at one end and salt marshes at the other. A little further down the road (2-minute drive / 20-minute walk) are the protected “Hemeon’s Head Conservation Lands”. This 320-acre coastal wilderness includes a 3-kilometre sand and cobble beach that supports a rich diversity of plant and wildlife.
The next nearest beach is Louis Head Beach (8-minute drive), known for its spectacular white sands. In May and June, parts of the beach become a protected wildlife sanctuary for the endangered Piping Plover bird who return each year to nest and rear their young.
Lockeport’s Crescent Beach (15-minute drive) is another stunning local beach. This beach features a beach center, changing rooms, and is walking distance to a few restaurants and a local town market.
There is no public transport, so to really explore the area, you will need your own vehicle. There is parking on site.
自我介绍
I moved to Shelburne in 2000 and I have spent the last 24 years working in Nova Scotia’s tourism industry first as a B&B owner and now as an owner/operator of Sandy Lane Vacation Rentals. I love my adopted home. I think Nova Scotia’s South Shore is an undiscovered gem and I look forward to sharing my local knowledge with you. When I am not helping my guests find the perfect home for their vacation, I'm off exploring new parts of the world.
