Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly place. This home overlooks Pelots Bay and is located in North Hero, VT, a small town that's part of the Champlain Islands just 34 miles north of Burlington. The house sits on a private lot surrounded by lush vegetation and amazing views, making it the perfect secluded hideaway. The interior maintains much of its 1970's architecture, with plenty of comfy furniture and big windows to let in the natural light. At the top of the driveway into the home, a rustic building features a sitting room, expansive windows, and a deck with a charcoal grill for a prime entertaining area that's separate from the main house. The upper level of the home is an open concept living space. Inside the house is a cozy TV room with a DVD player and a small DVD collection. With no cable, it's easy to unplug here, though there is free WiFi. Consider spending a night or day playing board games from the in-home collection. Roll up your sleeves and get to work making a delicious meal in the full kitchen, complete with all the necessary appliances (including a dishwasher) and beautiful countertops. Enjoy lots of natural light in the dining area and a beautiful wraparound deck where you can gaze out at the water. Down the hall of the upper level, there are two bedrooms with queen-size bed in each and a large half bathroom. Downstairs offers another two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and the other a twin-size, plus a nearby half bath. The lower level also features a spa-like setup, with a private dry sauna and airy full bathroom complete with a shower, jetted tub, and sliding glass doors to the lawn. Step down to the lake via the new stairs from the upper level or the spa bath downstairs - either way, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the secluded lot, spacious layout, and gorgeous waterfront views. Alburg Dunes State Park, located seven miles away, provides a place for recreational activities on land, while the surrounding bay and Lake Champlain provide endless opportunities for boating and water sports. Set off in the two adult kayaks and one youth kayak for a fun-filled day on the lake. Plan your summer vacation at this comfortable Lake Champlain home and enjoy all the lake has to offer.
The house was clean. Plenty of towels and clean linens. Kitchen was well equipped. Plenty of room on the top floor. The house was rustic. Felt more like a camp than a house. The outside walkways to the house and to the pier were steep and not safe for anyone who was unsteady on their feet. The deck and parts of the outside of the house were old and needed repairs.
Beautiful view over the lake, and the home feels like a treehouse! Plenty of space in the house and kitchen works well for meal prep (we found most of what we needed, and also brought our own nonstick pans and a small grill). Shower pressure is a challenge for rinsing hair but not a big deal. With all the rain the outdoor steps were slick so definitely recommend being careful but we liked the characters the property had with the different levels. The dock is a nice bonus! Beautiful sunrises and sun on the dock until afternoon. Sad that the lake was full of blue green algae but we still had lots of fun on nearby trails and hanging out around the house and small yard. (The bay is nice for paddling too, just couldn’t take our dog given the water situation).
The waterfront location was perfect for our children and grandchildren. We expected a rocky waterfront. The docks allowed for rafts and good use of the many kayaks provided. A ladder would have been a good upgrade. No way to get from the water to the dock if one was swimming. The open kitchen allowed for cooking while visiting with others. The master bath was spacious, the downstairs 1/2 bath was very tiny. The jacuzzi, shower and sauna were special. Bedding could be updated. The dishwasher was a big help. Dishes, glassware and cooking pots and pans were limited. I brought paper plates, soli cups and napkins to augment what was provided. The side and front showcased the lot with floor to ceiling windows. There were obvious upgrades of outdoor steps to the water. Steep path from the driveway to the house needs to be on the future list. Needs a handrail. Grill needs replacing or some new parts. Greatest asset was Charles from Islands only, he was VERY attentive.
Location was great for waterskiing, kayaking, fishing. Functional kitchen, comfy beds, nice eating/living space. Older home and grounds that could use some maintenance. Must be able to climb stairs. Despite some glitches, we had a great “up north” vacation!
The place was exactly what we were looking for. A rustic lake vibe! Great location. Beautiful views from the upstairs and downstairs large windows. The house was very spacious. It was stocked with all necessities, towels, dishes, family games, kayaks and more. Made for a great family vacation spot. The house does need some work and updates. The dock was a little tricky to get on and off as it was very slippery. The stairs going up to the house from the lake were very slippery when wet from rain. Definitely need to be cautious using the dock and stairs. All in all the place was great, we would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended! Thank you for hosting! :)
very private
You're going to need a vehicle, but bring bikes too!
