This beautiful former miners cottage, is set up on the hillside, just yards from the cliff tops, dating back to the 1800’s, and has now been lovingly renovated. Cowbar is on the route of the Cleveland Way, and is just a short stroll down to a foot bridge which allows access over Staithes Beck, where you will find traditional pubs, restaurants and a museum. With its higgledy-piggledy cottages and winding streets, the town of Staithes was once one of the largest fishing ports on the north east coast and is now a well-loved base for exploring Yorkshire’s cliff top paths, and discovering the delights of rock pooling and fossil hunting on the small sandy beach. Whitby is just a short drive away, and was made famous by its links to Bram Stokers ’Dracula’, and the haunting Abbey standing over this bustling fishing town. Keep an eye out for the many events and festivals that take place throughout the year such as the Goth Weekender, Steam Punk Festival and the Whitby Regatta, just to name a few. The area is a beach lovers paradise, with miles of golden sands and bays hidden all along this stunning coastline, such as Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay.
