The solar powered, 385 Sq Ft (36 Sq m) studio is full of vibrant colors, sleek modern amenities & high-end appliances that are set amongst a collection of art & sophisticated furnishings we have carefully curated. Several plants also bring the freshness & life of the adjoining garden into the space. ★★Oh, and the bed provides a dreamy slumber.★★* *Regarding the air mattress. If you require the air mattress, prior notice is required since it takes time to set up & is not kept in the unit. The recently remodeled studio is full of modern amenities so your stay is as comfortable as possible. This private rental is attached to our home, which is SF Historical Landmark #47. You will immediately understand upon arrival when I say that you can feel the history when you're on this property. It is a treasure to us and locals alike, so we hope you will feel the same. *To protect against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), we are implementing a 24-hour rest period between reservations per CDC recommendations.

Portia’s place is completely magical. The attention to design detail is absolutely exquisite and worlds beyond any rental I’ve stayed in. All the finishings - from wood floor to tile to sinks to shower to bedding - are top tier, both from a design perspective and from a quality point of view. I would call it a high end meets bohemian flair which really feels very San Francisco. The studio is airy and spacious and even has an air purifier and heated tile floors in the bathroom. The bathroom has a rain shower which pours from above - heavenly! Even the shampoo and soaps were beautifully curated and lovely. The studio is bright, airy and eclectic and opens on to a garden it shares with the main house. She main house is a rapturous historical Victorian that truly dazzled us when our Uber pulled up to the address. The lock and entry system worked well and we felt completely safe inside. The bed was plush and comfortable and there was even a curated selection of vinyl. Experience was A++++.
Portia and Jason’s place was a lovely retreat. Quiet and peaceful with a wonderful garden including visiting hummingbirds. Portia and Jason are attentive and kind hosts. Highly recommended.
Our Airbnb stay at this magical character home was perfect! A very private, comfortable and bright space decorated with whimsical charm that also includes a lovely courtyard garden. It is well-situated, safe, and walkable to shopping and dining. The host, Portia, was a joy to meet and offered non-touristy suggestions you would not come across on your own. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower and heated bathroom floor luxurious, and we had everything we needed for a three night stay. We enjoyed meeting Darby and the other furry family members in the courtyard and enjoyed fresh apples from the tree every morning. Very much recommend staying here, and can’t wait to come back!
From the moment we walked in we were truly taken aback by Portia & Jason's apartment. It is by far the most organized, well equipped, clean, and cozy Airbnb we've ever stayed. Portia has truly thought of every small detail a traveler may need. Forgot a charger? -Covered. Need sunscreen on a rare sunny SFO day? -No problem. 5 star hotel bath and beauty products? -But of course! Handpicked apples from the courtyard, homemade cookies on the table, and a bottle of sparkling in the fridge to truly make you feel special? -Portia has you taken care of! Portia and Jason's eclectic design had us in envy from the moment we arrived. Chic, comfortable, and if you look closely, you'll even find some pieces of SFO herstory. But the best part of our stay was how welcome Portia and Jason made us feel. Kind, attentive, quick to respond to anything we may need, and provided some great recommendations to boot! Thank you Portia & Jason! We can't wait to return ❤️
Every now and then you check into an Airbnb and realize that it is way beyond what you expected. This is one of those places. It was one of the best stays I ever had on Airbnb. Portia's guesthouse was absolutely perfect, with every little detail meticulously thought out to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Portia was proactive and helpful with communications throughout the entire stay. The location is also great if you want to stay in a safe and quiet neighborhood, experience the true San Francisco lifestyle but also be a 5-10min Uber ride from downtown/Soma.

The primarily residential neighborhood is full of pubs, restaurants, cafés & boutiques, many of which have been here for decades. It's truly one of the last SF neighborhoods that has an old-school, authentic, local feel & will provide you with a very classic SF experience. It has often been described as Haight Ashbury's cooler younger sister. There are plenty of dive bars and upscale restaurants. Plus no chain stores, although just as close in the other direction from the house is Safeway, Whole Foods...and more bars.
The public transit system is readily available in our neighborhood. Multiple MUNI bus lines stop a half block from the property and 2 blocks away is Market St where you can hop on a streetcar or walk 1 more block to the underground MUNI system where the opportunities are endless. All of these options can take you further down Market St to catch the BART as well. Check the MUNI and BART websites for more detailed information. Transit maps and flyers may also be provided in the unit.

Hello, my name is Portia. My husband Jason and I have both lived here in magical San Francisco since ‘94. This place is definitely our home. We have have been together for over 27 years and still enjoy all that San Francisco has to offer. Since 2010 we have been restoring our SF Historical Landmark home. It’s our labor of love and personifies our passion and dedication to our City by the Bay and each other.
