Aside from The Wigtown Book Festival, there are a number of other festivals that happen over the year in Wigtown. We suggest checking out The Wigtown Festival Company's websites for details. All year round you can visit one of the town's many bookshops, including the The Bookshop, home of the best-selling author Shaun Bythell and his Diary of a Bookseller series, relax with a coffee in Reading Lasses or Rendevous, swat up on your Gaelic at Beltie Books, check out the antiques in one of Wigtown's many antiquarian curiosity shops. And Bladnoch Whisky Distillery has just opened for visitors, a comfortable 1 mile walk from our house.

Best to get here by car. You can get here by public transport via Dumfries (1hr 15mins drive away), from where you can catch a bus to Newton Stewart and then Wigtown. Otherwise you can go to Barr Hill (40mins drive), but there's no public transport from there. We can advice on taxis.
