A delightful property that met all our needs. Wonderful view of harbour, and rooms thoughtfully designed and furnished to make the most of this. Helpful owner — nothing too much trouble. Comfortable, well equipped and utterly peaceful. Not to mention high quality cafe downstairs.
Very well equipped and tastefully decorated accomodation. Amazing views whatever the weather. Andy, the host, is nearby and very friendly. Good location for visiting Wigtown, Whithorn, Isle of Whithorn (Steam Packet Inn), Galloway Forest Park, Rigg Bay and within a reasonable driving distance to Logan Botanical Gardens, Creetown and Kirkcudbright. Would highly recommend.
We loved our stay here. It's a brilliant spot directly overlooking the bay and the house is very well ewuipped and comfortable.
The area is rich in history, with good walking and birding. “The View” is wonderful place to stay and every provision was made for our comfort and enjoyment.
Accommodation- Kerry and Andy have thought of everything when designing and furnishing THE VIEW, nothing has been left out, from the cooking gadgets (including Slow cooker which we made good use of while out walking) To the toys and games in the cupboard for children and adults. the rooms were all beautiful, but the attic bedroom was the best, although there were only 2 of us visiting and could have used the lovely front facing bedroom on the first floor, the attic bedroom with its layout and beautiful views was perfect for us. The view from all the rooms was spectacular. The apartment was sparkling clean when we arrived and with the COVID instructions was hopefully that way when we left. The neighbours down stairs are lovely and made us feel very welcome. Garlieston- Garlieston is a beautiful village with great walks along the beach and through the wooded area into Galloway house estate and beyond. We really enjoyed the walks and so did out Dog who has slept most of the time since we returned, think we tired her out. We ate dinner a couple of nights at the Harbour Inn which has a great choice in there menu and the food was very nice. as were the staff. and on Friday night we went to the chippy van that comes to Garlieston once a week. which was also very nice. The shop in the Garage only opens till 4pm on weekdays and earlier at the weekend which was fine for us as we had brought most of the food we needed with us. There are supermarkets in Wigtown and Newton Stewart which don't take too long to drive to Kerry and Andy were great hosts, we had no issues with the apartment therefore they didn't need to fix anything for us, but they gave clear instructions prior to our visit and had laminated instructions and information for us on our arrival. we also met them in the village a couple of times and they were very helpful we would love to visit The View again sometime soon
Lovely peaceful seaside village on the wonderful Solway Firth. A quiet and restful place with lots of outdoor activities close by. Garlieston itself has an attractive harbour with both pleasure and commercial fishing boats making it an ideal base for sailing. The original village was planned in the mid 18th century by Lord Garlies, later 6th Earl of Galloway and the modern village retains the original quiet character.
The village has an excellent pub and restaurant and it is worth exploring the bustling town at Newton Stewart which has many excellent shops and places to eat, or in contrast the quiet and peaceful book town at Wigtown which boasts many unique and interesting book shops and cafes such as the Beltie Shop and tea room.
Car is best but there are walks and bike routes from the front door
