We had a great stay at Peter's place. The location was perfect for our visit to the North and NW Suburbs of Chicago. The surroundings were beautiful and quiet. We had no noise from the golf course, neighbors, or neighbor's animals. So quiet, we actually got to see some deer roaming around the area and enjoyed the fireflies at night. The house was expansive, giving us plenty of room to stretch out. We found that both bedrooms had curtains, and appreciated the rest of light throughout the house. Peter was very communicative and we had everything we needed. The property is a neat mix of old and new architecture. As a family home, we appreciate being welcomed into the space.

Pros - beautiful home, spacious and comfortable nestled near a pond and across from a golf club, pool table, lots of board games, large kitchen. Cons - repaving of streets going on, landscapers are out early every morning at the country club, no curtains ( or any means to cover windows) in main bedroom so neighbors can see in from their patio, neighbor's dog barks alot, the area is much noiser than expected or described. Would like to say we had a great time however there was a huge issue with the owner and his lack of respect for our privacy that prevents me from doing so. When we were arrived we were informed that one of the ac units had failed and would need to be repaired however we were told it wouldn't impact us because there were two other ac units. We were there for our daughter's wedding which was on a Sunday. monday morning we were awaken by contractors there to repair the ac unit. We had not been contacted to let us know they were coming, it was a huge inconvenience the day after a wedding and frankly it should have been disclosed that there was a problem before we arrived and it should have been scheduled after our stay. The biggest issue was that the contracters came into the house when my husband was away and had taken the car. My daughter and I were there alone and didnt know what what was going on, only heard men in the house talking. I contacted my husband who rushed back and then contacted the owner to let him know. I was shocked to find out HE was the one who had gone in and let the contracters in thinking we were away. I would regularly leave my 20yr old daughter and go run a quick errand with my husband but after that I didn't feel comfortable. It was a clear invasion of our privacy, it was very disturbing and to be honest very creepy that the owner thought nothing of letting himself and others in without asking first. This is not how airbnb works and it was a clear violation of rules. It ruined our trip! Had it not been for this incident I would have considered renting again. We have been renting through homeway, airbnb, VRBO and many others for over 15 yrs and have never had an issue until now.

Peter was an outstanding host! He had fresh food ready upon our arrival, gave great recommendations about things to do in the local area and made every attempt to make us feel at home. The home is nicely decorated, has a beautiful kitchen and is very cozy. The location is perfect. Neighborhood is quite, peaceful and just minutes from Downtown Barrington. Downtown Barrington is a beautiful little town with lots to do. It's also close to shopping in Deer Park, Lake Zurich and "Lindy's" in downtown Wauconda. Will definitely stay again next time we're in the area!
