This Saltbox-style antique wooden home was originally constructed in 1750. This dwelling originally served as a shoe factory, with its owners residing above the shop. Several individuals have owned it since, including the Chapman family, who had a direct connection to Johnny Appleseed. Its unique Saltbox design allows for refreshing summer breezes and occasional glimpses of the Atlantic Ocean. The home is located in the heart of Old Town Marblehead, walkable to local shops and restaurants. As you enter the home, you will walk into the generous living area with an adjoining office. Just off of the living area, you will find the adorable antique kitchen and dining area with an attached half bath and morning staircase. On the second floor, there is a large queen bedroom with ensuite bath — complete with a fabulous and inviting clawfoot tub. Next to the queen bedroom, there is another bedroom that offers a comfortable full bed and sitting area. Had a great experience. House was exactly as advertised, host was responsive and helpful.
Wow. I've traveled all over- and I'm almost at a loss of words for Amy's airbnb. Our family (two kids- aged 10 and 7) stayed for one week during spring break. The weather was cold and the home was cozy. Amy was incredibly flexible and let us check in a few hours early. The home is even better than the pictures. I cooked meals easily in the kitchen- there was everything I needed. The home's heater worked well and there was excellent water pressure for the shower. The kids have never loved a home as much as this one! The gently sloping floors, the winding historic staircases- they loved every detail. The beds were heavenly and the linens buttery soft. The children also loved the idea of a friendly resident ghost. This home was in the perfect location (Salem was just 15 minutes away) and within walking distance is the BEST lobster roll in New England. Amy checked in with me to make sure the trip was going smoothly. We are already planning a trip back!
Lovely historic home in an ideal location for walks to parks, beaches, and shops. The space is thoughtfully furnished and carries plenty of character. Our kids loved the attic bedroom and the old timey stairwells. Amy was super responsive and accommodating - we will be back.

Marblehead is a quaint seaside town that offers many options for both locals and vacationers. Visit any of our local beaches — Gas House Beach, Devereux Beach or Grace Oliver's Beach, walk around Old Town and browse the local shops, or visit one of our many restaurants, such as The Landing, Sea Salt, Maddie's Sail Loft or The Beacon and enjoy some time with family and friends. If you take a quick drive over to Marblehead Neck — "The Neck", as it's commonly known — you can spend the day at the Chandler Hovey Park enjoying the lighthouse and all of the boats sailing in and out of the harbor. Or, head over to Castle Rock and watch the waves crash against the rocks.
You will never get bored touring the lovely sights of Marblehead! And, if you are lucky enough to visit us during the month of July, you are in for a treat! The Festival of the Arts hosts a wonderful array of music, art and celebration (not to mention fireworks) to celebrate the birth of this great nation. It's a series of fun-filled days that you will be sure to enjoy! And, if you are visiting during the month of October, you have to venture over to Salem to take in Haunted Happenings! It's a must if you are in the area at that time of year.
