Nestled beside the river, in a sleepy little backwater next to fields, sits Low Water Lodge. This oak framed house lies a 10-minute traffic free stroll into the ancient town of Frome. A covered porch leads into the dining entrance hall with access to a sunken garden and fully equipped kitchen. The upstairs living room leads to 2 en-suite double bedrooms, and also out onto a balcony. This overlooks the tranquil garden – an ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee or evening aperitif.
A lovely place to stay for an overnight trip. Clean and cosy space. The breakfast spread was also a lovely touch. Thank you!
Low water lodge was absolutely beautiful, we had a great time, it was peaceful, comfortable, lovely products in the bathrooms, Katherine provided breakfast basket, which was very much appreciated… lovely 10min walk along the river path into Frome town , we were there to visit the Cheese & Grain on the Saturday evening, but the local area is very nice, local market on the Saturday morning, lovely cobbled streets with alternative shops with a organic vibe..
Great location - a short walk along the river to the centre of town. Lovely, well-equipped cottage in a peaceful garden setting
Low water lodge is a fantastic property and Katherine is a super host. On the edge of Frome, the property feels rural but is only a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the town centre. Frome itself has a great selection of cafes, restaurants and shops. The location is also ideal for visiting Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, Bath. Katherine’s recommendation of the local bouldering cafe went down really well with the kids. 5 star recommendation!
Low Water Lodge is set in a tiny community which was once part of the local wool industry. It is just a 10-minute walk into the centre of charming Frome. The jewel in the crown of Frome is Cheap Street. Cheap Street has retained its medieval character and has a leat running through it, carrying water from the spring beneath St John’s Church. Gentle Street was the original road leading down into Frome and recently used in the Poldark series and, not to be missed is the famous cobbled Catherine Hill. There are a diverse range of coffee shops, restaurants, independent shops and many bars. Frome has two theatres, a contemporary 3-screen cinema, and the only cinema in the country with a bar! And of course, the famous Cheese and Grain which hosts markets, festivals and a full range of music gigs. The renowned Sunday market, which takes place on the first Sunday of every month (except January and February) has a fantastic range of artisan stalls, live music and food from around the world, whilst the town becomes traffic free. Also don’t miss arty Frome First Fridays
The Lodge is set 100m from Sustrans Cycle route 24 and just a short way from the Macmillan Way. There are numerous footpaths immediately accessible from the Lodge. Just an hour’s walk over the hill and along the river valley will take you to the delightful and timeless village of Mells, filled with thatched cottages, a café at the Post Office, the Talbot Inn, the walled garden and lots of other attractions. Other nearby sites of interest are Nunney Castle, Orchardleigh with its island church, Longleat, Bradford on Avon, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Lacock, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge, Avebury, Wells, Glastonbury and Salisbury, to name just a few. Frome, which is set just south of the Cotswolds, is also just over an hour’s drive to the coast, either to the south or the west.
Frome has its own railway station and there are plenty of local buses. Parking is available at the Lodge and there is plenty of parking in the town of Frome.
